Strange speedometer behavior

Well i noticed that my speedo doesnt seem to work at times, and if I punch it real quick it will jump up dramatically to a speed i am not going but then drop down, and not read but if i do like 50- 55 it will work but if i do 65 for instance it will stay at 55 then if i speed up a little it will jump to my actuall speed and sometimes drop back down. I was thinking maybe the speedo gear? Any other suggestions?

Also I dont know if it has anything to do with it but my cruise control works fine, so i would think that means the speed sensor works fine?

Do you have some aftermarket gauge faces? Mine sometimes rub on the base of the needle and stop it from moving.

No these are the factory gauges, and for those who are going to say that i should read up on it I have and what I find are people who are having a problem with a speedo thats inop. But mine works from time to time but will seem to get stuck and jumps to like 90 when at WOT in 1st and sometimes second.

Well I dont know if anyone cares, but I figured it out. The needle was stuck against the gauge cluster face. So I tapped it and it went to normal and well I am just going to pull the cluster and I guess put everything well in its place.
