I hope this is the right place to post this. I have this strange blue thing in my center dash down by the lighter (directly behind the shifter), and I have no idea what it is. The blue plastic part of it seems to have threads on the outside, and the center part of it pushes in. The previous owner also did not know what it was, he got it used as well. I've attached a picture. If you know what it is, please tell me! It's driving me nuts.

Pull that piece off and see if there are any wires behind it and trace them down.

I did think about doing that, and I tried to turn it (gently) the other day just to test, but I think I'll need to pull out the tools to actually try to get it off. I don't want to break it on accident or anything, in case it turns out to be something cool that I want.

Yeah, trace the wires. Maybe it's a switch or just an indicator light but whatever it is, run that puppy down!

Do you have an aftermarket alarm or remote start?

Looks like an indicator light. May or may not be hooked up. You don't need any tools to pull that part of the console out.

So, it's like a momentary button? Sounds like it may have been a purge button in its former life. (Just my educated guess)

Really? Why? I mean, is it lighting up? Flashing? If it's just sitting there and, understandably making you curious, can't you simply ignore it?

Could be the "Man" checking up on him or his Progressive Insurance with their DTC flashdrives logging your driving habits...

"F" that... trace that bitch down. You could be on reality TV and not even know it...

Cameras can be as small as the tip of a Ball Point Pen.

Let the Puppy tracing begin.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that it is an inexpensive toggle switch (the kind that light up when the switch is in the "ON" position), and the blue plastic toggle has busted.
