OK.... i have had idle problems on my 2002 for a while now and i wanted to rule out the IAC bc its fine most of the time. However it is horrible with the AC and HEAT on.... But today on the way to work i had the heat on and the thing was idling so bad i had to give it gas to keep it from dying.... Also (this is the strange part), the last two times i drove the car with the heat on, the fuel guage went on the fritz... it read past the full mark. shortly after turning the heat off it starting reading right again. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? short somewhere... im "flabbergasted ":bang:

It sounds as if your blower motor has a short and is causing trouble with electrical system. The motor is really close to the computer and mabey its making an unusually strong magnetic field
If the problem only happens when the a/c or heater is on that is the only common thing. See if it does it with just the vent on and the fan going.

i will double check the vent idea but im already pretty sure it does it with the vent on... i havent had a tune in a while. i plan on getting one by the end of the year but really dont want to get it immediately. the car has been tuned before and hp mods include only the blower and exhaust. this crap is crazy

If it does it with the vent on too then I would bet there is a short or problem with the climate control fan. Check the computers ground too.

OK seriously people...this is the THIRD thread posted with this same damn problem. If your car idles weird with the AC on, you have A) low freon (which can be ruled out if it blows cold) or B)your cycling switch is bad. I don't know how many people I have to respond to in one week.....

is it safe to rule out the freon being low seeming it does it with the heat on also

If the car still does it with the heater or vent on I am fairly certian you can rule out the cycling switch or other related compressor problems.:)

Not if it ONLY happens when the AC/heater is turned on :nice:

Test the cycle switch by placing a paper clip between the two prongs to short it. Short it when the AC/heat is on. But only do this for a few seconds. If the car stops surging, you found your problem. I'd bet $100 on it.
