street heat/stock lower question

I had a street heat, then got a kenne bell, looked at it for while seeing if I could make something work, no-go. I heard it is an older systemax that will work, no experience with that though. I was looking into a ported one from Tmoss, just last night actually. That is the only option I know of short of changing the oultet manifold to the gt-40 type.

Kenne bell's only work with the following lowers:

NON flowzilla Kenne Bell= STOCK or Holley Systemax I lower which looks EXACTLY like the stock lower, this is NOT the systemax II intake that most people think of when they think of a holley intake. The systemax I was a DIRECT replacement LOWER intake ONLY, and was part of the systemax I kit which included a timing chain, cam, and the lower intake. They are now discontinued I believe. When using the holley systemax I on a 94-95 car you will have to machine a spacer for the blower pulley because the lower positions the blower back towards te firewall a little more than it would sit if it was on top of the stock lower and you will not get the belt on.

KB with the FLOWZILLA manifold: GT40 style lower ONLY. The flowzilla will NOT work with the stock or holley lower.

i knew there was a reason i never really looked into the kenne bell stuff.if your only 2 choices are stock or gt-40 lower,no thanks.i cant beleive he would have to down grade to one of those 2 in order to use it.can you say procharger?i know i can.

pro .. pro ... pro (cough) (cough)

nope, sorry ... i can't say it

seriously tho, mine is a 100% street car, daily driver, and i never go to the track, so the instant boost is exactly right for my purposes. the kenne bell is what gives me that, not a centrifugal s/c.

I know which one I'd rather have in my street car and its not the pro-puke my internal oil all over my engine bay-charger. The kenne bell came out YEARS ago when there were only these two options.

so...if i read this right..you'll be getting rid of a blower or a trickflow?

if so, msg me ;)
i'll be getting rid of the trick flow street heat. i paid $400 for it (upper and lower) a year ago ... i will be happy to entertain offers for it from anyone who wants to take it off my hands ...

well the procharger throws oil only if it is over filled.i would rather have it self contained if the head unit blows rather than have it sucked into the engine where you had to tap the oil pan.alot easier rebuilding head unit than the entire engine dont you think?but you are right, you dont really want that oil all over the engine if you over fill it and who wants a intercooler.

For you guys who are thinking about or may think about a KB1500:

Ford made a stock lower intake that I don't think came on Mustangs (still trying to find out what they came on) that has quite a bit more aluminum in the top of the runner - both wider and taller - that allows for a LOT more material to be taken out for this kind of blower application and it doesn't even need welding to get there. I have attached a picture of one all ported up for a KB1500. Take special notice of the casting mark under the intake by the distributor relief. See that "M" and "3" - that is the ID mark of this intake. Most Mustang HO lowers have their mark on the back driver's side and they are all SAC, SAC1, SAC2, SAC3, CAE, or ALCAN.

That gasket on that intake is a 1262 just to give you an idea of the size of those runners and there is no welding in that lower. There is more work involved in that much porting, but for the blower app it is worth it.

Don't forget, there are guys running 11's on a 1500. I don't remember what the lower was, but when you get that thing on, it will be awhile before you care about porting it! You'll be spending too much time figuring out how to pay for new tires every 1000 miles :D
