Hey, I'm usually in the 5.0 section but I'm building a new motor and I am thinking of a carb setup. My new motor is a non roller 306 with the newer style 50oz crank, -2cc Speed-pro forged pistons. I have TFS TW heads, BBK LT's, 2.5 H pipe, Flows dumped. I'm not sure I want to keep EFI, nice but not my D/D and EFI cost lots of $$$. It's a street/strip setup that I will probally spray sooner than later.

What size carb? I have heard lots of good things about the BG Speed Demon. What size? 650, 700, 750???
What intake. I like Edelbrock intakes. Should I go Victor Jr, or is that too much, should I go Edelbrock RPM? What about air gap rpm?
Fuel pump? Holley blue? and what about the regulator? What size/brand lines?

Any help would be apreciated, Thanks.

If you go to Holley's web site, or even Edelbrock's, they give you a way to calculate how much carb you need at a certain percentage of volumetric efficiency. They make the statement that most street cars can only get to 85% VE, with race cars getting to 95% VE. So I did the calcs for my 362W and came up with a carb recommendation of 649 CFM at 100% VE. In spite of all that, everybody here tells me I should get a bigger carb. I am going to have my car make another dyno run next week with a 750 and see if it makes any difference. In your case, I doubt you would need more than 650 CFM.

As for the intakes, the victor is great if you are racing that car at insane rpms. It makes its power between 3500-8000 rpm. If you have a stock crank, forget about ever reving your motor that high. Also, you will be disappointed between idle-3500. You want your power at a lower rpm. The airgap is between 1500-6500, which is reasonable. I am ordering one to replace my Torker II. And, I just ordered a holley blue because I am adding a shot of nitrous in the future and I was advised to get the electric over the mechanical pump in anticipation. You might do just fine with a mechanical pump and a regulator.

Everyone has a different idea of what street/strip is. You will have to give more detail of what street manners it must have, like opperate power brakes, cruise down the interstate, etc. We must also know what you expect at the strip. What tranny? What gear?

Would be better with flat or dome pistons. a good size mechanical flat cam in the 250-260 range at .050. go with the vic jr and a holley 650HP.
Blue pump, regulator and 3/8 hardline will work for a strip car. you will need another pump to feed to oxide.
