I have two "junk" bullitt wheels from an 01-02 that a friend gave me. I don't really have a need for them, but i want to try to strip the charcoal paint off the spokes and get the wheel down to bare aluminum if possible...then maybe try out a different paint scheme and see how it look.

Anyone know how to get it off? It's clearcoated as well.

Aircraft paint stripper - i've used it many a-time including this week:

Found at any hardware store, wont be locked up with the spray paint.





Please use gloves. Chemical burns are no fun, it'll try to take the paint off your skin, lol.

Tip:
A good technique for spraying this and paint in general on wheels is to buy some note/index cards and stand them tall ways wedged between the tire and the rim all the way around the wheel. That way you dont have to tape it off.

Just spraying it on won't do much. When I have to strip something at work, I put the stuff on the part, then put it in a plastic bag with the aircraft remover. The stuff works twice as fast and twice as affective. The aircraft paint removed didn't even scratch my BBS wheel finish when left out in the atmosphere.

Well i have some stripper. Maybe this weekend i'll spray the rim down and put it in a plastic trash bag.


I just want to get them down to bare aluminum...and then decide what to do with them.
