stroker guesses?

Has anyone gone from a stock shortblock to a stroked 302 sb with a blower and dyno'd it to see what the stroker alone did? I'm going to a stroker next week with a p1sc 10#. With no other changes what do you think my numbers will change to? right now I have 397rwhp and 403rwtq.
 
If you are asking what a motor that is designed for boost will put out with the supercharger disabled or boost bypassed.....not much. I think that is what everyone was talking about. But you will without a doubt gain some power with the extra cubes and the blower. And with the lower SCR you will be able to throw a little more boost at it and then get it re-tuned.

Is your fuel system setup to handle over 10#'s?
 
what he means is, he already has the blower and he is going to continue to run the blower but he is going to replace his block with the a stroker block. he looking for what kind of gains will he see when he does this swap!
 
My stroker gained me 30rwhp. That was going from VT Stage 2 N/A cams to Blower cams on an N/A motor before the blower went on. With the N/A's it should have been more. 8.5-1 compression SHM 302 stroker.

Exactly. my car is already blown, nothing will change but the stroker short block. the tune will be the same.
 
I've still yet to see proof that a stroker will add any power being NA or Blown...You doing this swap with no other changes will be a good barometer since everyone else who claims to have gained power has done other mods at the same time like cams/heads or different compression and more boost etc etc...so i honestly will be anxious to see your results.
 
I'd go big bore, over stroker if I were you if increasing displacement is your goal. One thing the 4.6L modular engine doesn't need, is additional stroke. Hell, as it is, it's already longer than a 351W.
 
well, everyone would like to go bb. seriously though, most guys just go forged internals, there are a couple of us who shell out the extra cash for the stroker, but the darn bb is just way too expensive.

i know there some who went that route and they seem to make massive numbers, but i never see anyone on here who spent that kind of coin. its just too much. i guess it depends on how much of a race car you want to build or how much money you have.

But the power and torque curves are amazing and flat. This thing comes in with 300tq from 2500rpm and pulls like a train with a very flat torqe curve all the way through. It has a very nice sweet and incredibly smooth graph that isn't peaky or rough at all. With smoothing of 0 this thing has a smoother graph than any I have seen at full smoothing. The dyno op did 3 pulls and they lay on top of each other so perfectly that it looks like 1 line. On the last pull he loaded it with 10% brake just to see what it would do and it stayed right on without a hiccup.

Its running 20* timing and right at 12:1A/F and sees a max of about 10# of boost right at 6k.

The car actually only has about an 8:1 compression ratio. Its a stroker that has 28cc pistons in it. I called the guy that put the engine together last night just to make sure and he told me that it definitely isn't greater than 8:1. That low compression is not helping things any in the peak power department but it sure makes for an incredibly broad usable power range.

That P1 is just teasing it though.

But I have to tell you that for the street I wouldn't change a single thing. It is right on the edge of loosing traction all the way through 2nd gear. The car is an absolute blast to drive.

I know Matt really hoped for better peak numbers, but the usable power under the curve on this thing is awesome.

Yeah, it's more beneficial for you to have a big bore over a stroker for pure bang-for-the-buck displacement. I'd get a stroker only if I was already replacing the internals. If I was getting a new block, I'd be all over a big bore. Then again, at that rate, I'd get a big bore stroker :)
