Well i have had my 95 gt for a few months now and i am planning on making some more power this fall/winter. It is my daily driver (except in the winter). I want to put down some decent power without going too crazy. At first i was just thinking of doing an h/c/i or supercharger but then i thought maybe i should do a 347 h/c/i. I am thinking of getting a shortblock from someone (emailed rick but he is on vacation so i dont expect a reply immediately). About how much im a going to expect to pay for an assembled 347 shortblock? I dont think i need the high dollar parts (forged crank etc) as i am not going to put any type of power adder on at at all and i am not going to try and rev it high, its just going to be a good street n/a 347. Is there any chance @ spending around 2k for an assembled shortblock? I am looking @ ebay and classifieds daily and i have found a few on ebay just curious on your thoughts about them http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/302-331-347-Ford-Short-Block-Mustang-Engine-Stroker-TRE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ019QQitemZ8035585499QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STROKER-302-331-347-SMALL-BLOCK-FORD-SHORTBLOCK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ019QQitemZ8075069847QQrdZ1 i also see keith craft has a shortblock for 1900

I am thinking of doing an h/c/i similar to something like the tfs kit or afr heads but will talk with engine builder about there reccomendations and maybe even go w/ custom cam if it makes much difference. I know i will need the supporting stuff like injectors maf fuel pump etc and i plan on getting a afm pms, wideband and maybe something to datalog with we will see when the time comes. My t5 already grinds 2nd when i rev it high so i am thinking of putting g force gears in it to handle the power. So what do you guys think about the shortblocks i posted or any other input? I am not doing this immediately as it will be the fall/winter by the time i get the money to do everything.

honestly i wouldn't buy a block off ebay. thats just me though.

as far as your plans they sound like good ones but your 2000 dollars isn't going to get most of that.

just my opinion...but your better off getting a h/c/i now in prepearation for a 347. like a track heat intake with afr 185s and a comp cam. get the supporting gear like fuel pump, TB, mass air, injectors. this will make you happy for the next summer then in the winter get the 347.

Right now I have my 347 planned out with a local engine builder using my existing block and the quote is like $1980 or so after tax. So a $2k budget is very doable. That doesn't take into account the costs of the engine tear down and re-installation (i.e. engine lift + stand, fluids, gaskets, misc. tool)

Well i got in contact with rick and it looks like he will be building me a 347 in the fall/winter. I will get the pms first so i can start playing with it but for the h/c/i i might just have rick put it all together... we will see. I suppose i should do something with the t5 since it already grinds 2nd.

so i have to ask, if your looking to only spend 2k on the stroker, how are you affording a PMS for 1k on top of that?

i just don't understand what your trying to do...are you putting stock heads and intake on a 347?

of course not that would be damn pointless. I am going to get a shortblock from rick for around 2k (2k just for the shortblock not the whole package)... i am not going to put all top of the line parts that are pointless since i will not be using any nitrous, supercharger or turbo so i dont need a 5k shortblock. I am going to put different heads cam and intake on the motor. Thinking maybe tw heads intake and maybe fti cam... still deciding on that. I am going to also upgrade the maf, injectors, and all the other stuff to go along with it. i am getting a pms because it obviously will need tuned and i am in a crappy location for any good tuning places plus i would like to tune it myself and be able to adjust it for w/e i do.

The SCAT cast crank, forged rod, forged piston combo will be just fine. I tell customers these are fine till around 600hp, and they will out live the factory block in 99% of the cases.

The PMS is a great tuning tool and used correctly you will find a lot of power and awesome drivabilty.
