stuck lock on wheel

ive tried everything suggested here. and this thing is just too tight. nothing will get it off. options?

Have you tried hammering an impact socket over the stuck lug?

If this doesn't work, go to an auto parts store and ask for some locking lug nut removers. We carry them in stock, but they cost about $40.00 a set. they work like no other, it's a reverse threaded, tapered socket that fits over the stuck lug.

I've just always used a junk impact socket and hammered it on, the used a breakover bar to break it loose.

tried both. cant get a socket that fits properly, and its a rounded lock. got a set of lock removers, $28, same thing youre talking about. none of them fit well enough to grip. the middle one fits enough to grip the very edge where its smallest, but not enough to screw on as the lock gets wider.

i suppose ill just have to search for a socket.

Summit sells some thing now that says it can remove wheel locks...I happened to see it in the new catalog the other day. Might wanna check that out.

Try putting a piece of coarse grade sandpaper with the abrasive side facing in and hammer ing on over that.

Thats how we got the wheel locks off a friends Stang after he lost the locks.

I got some wheel locks off a junkyard rearend wheel by putting a vise grip on it. It worked for me.

if worse comes to worse, grap an old 1/2 drive socket, like a 12mm or something, and weld it on....lol....all i could think of man...

as a last resort ( i seen this done) you could grind or cut (cutoff wheel on a grinder) off the top of the nut (where the key goes in) to reveal the stud under it. spray with a good penetrant oil. then use oversized socket or "good" vise grips. not the cheapy ones. and tap with a heavy hammer like a small sledge. you will have to replace the stud after but thats not too hard.

depending on what wheels you got you could heat the nut up with a torch or propane soldering torch and use visegrips to take the nut off (don't touch the nut after heating it gets hella HOT

I just took it to a tire shop, and they cut off all 4 for $40.
