Ok I have a 1991GT, in august did the whole aod - t5 swap. The tranny was supposed to have been rebuilt. (According to the guy I bought it from).

Well about two months ago, I noticed when i would shift into 3rd gear I'd get some grinding, so I adjusted the clutch cable, problem goes away. Well its doing it today, and once and a while it grinds when I downshift to 4th, but this time after it grinds when I shift into 3rd its a bitch to get out of gear. So I adjusted the cable again, but didn't really help. If I baby the shift, go real slow, it doesn't really happen, once and a while it does. When I am stopped, I can go through all the gears no problem, nice and smooth. Only in third gear does it seem to get stuck and not want to come out of gear.

Where do I start to fix this problem? I have the upr clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster, and I have a steeda triax.

I don't think it is a clutch or clutch linkage issue. I think it is definatly in the transmission. Being stuck in gear and grinding tells me it is more likley a syncro problem. Good luck.

Were can you get stronger gears for the T-5, is it only through ford? How much does it cost to do a rebuild and putting in those upgraded gears?

Definitely needs rebuild. Had the same exact problem with another car.

I once bought a car from a guy who told me the engine was "rebuilt". It must have been low-budget because it consisted of a couple new gaskets and paint.
