Stupid Question

yeah, there's a holster thingy, but I forgot to mentally note which way the pump was facing, the rounded side which way? I mean the lines, does the rounded end go to the part of the line going to the engine or the part of the line that goes to the fuel tank? Is the filter on the line going to the engine, like fuel has to go through the filter to get to the engine, or does it get filtered on the way back from the engine?

The fuel filter filters fuel as it goes from the tank to the engine. There should be an arrow on the filter showing the direction that the fuel should flow.

If its a motorcraft filter. I *THINK* the rounded part goes on the line going to the engine. But follow the arrow to be sure.

lol i guess i got it figured out. I couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong with my car and i've reset the idle like 20 times and played with timing and everything and low and behold i replace the fuel filter for 11 bucks and it runs like a raped ape!:D

yeah i was getting a crazy hesitation. Thinking about it, the car kinda acted like it was running out of gas ( I might have "accidently" almost ran out of gas before) so I was thinking maybe I'd replace the fuel filter, it has been like 4 oil changes ago too, so it was prolly time. Low and behold it worked!

I guess I should have thought about that. I thought it had something to do with too much air coming into the engine because when I put my 75mm maf on it seemed to hesitate more. But with the stock one it worked a lot better. I mean I went through the whole surging idle checklist aside from the stupid fuel filter and did little to correct the problem.

the filter is located on the outside of the tank on the body near where the spare tire sits.
all you'll need to remove the filter is a screw driver to loosen the band that holds in place.

There's a tool you can pick up at any parts store. Its designed to go into the fitting and release the clips which attach to the line.

personally, I like the small plastic/metal tools (metal is better). THe scissor style stinks.
