The floorpan at the rear bolts of the front seats is very weak. Over time, the floor pan will flex and it will actually start to split in half across the car.

No **** just what i was thinking, what are they 1"x1" or 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 square tube? I'm making mine out of 3/4 x 2" and will tie into my TQ boxes i also seen an artical in 5.0 on some brace's that run from the subs to the out side of the body. I have most of this mocked up all i need to do is the solid motor and tranny mounts5.0fox said:charged9350 those are some sturdy looking subframes. who made them and how much?

They are 1 1/2" x 2" rectangle tube. I had a guy out in Hillsboro/northplains make them for me. I took him a pic and we made our own. The ones you can buy in the mags are like 1 1/2"-2" x 1/2". Kind of small if you ask me. The cost was a little more then what the mags sell them for, but well worth it.
So what did he charge you for them? I was thinking of building and installing the stuff i make as well. When the time comes on the 80 we might make our own motor plate as well, i seen a tube bender in the paper and was thinking that would be nice to start doing my own roll bars? So it will be nice cause for what little material i need for these parts is scrap from my work so it's 100% profet for me. peacecharged9250 said:They are 1 1/2" x 2" rectangle tube. I think it was $250 for the material & labor. It was kind of expensive, but it was all custom made off a picture I had.
It sounds like your on the right track.
Well i hope i'm on the right track, not looking to get rich but just a couple extra bucks. I dont know if they were any good or what brand ,but lastnight i went to ebay and there was a ton of subs for like $69-79 bucks, either they are cheap ones or they have really came down over the last couple of years or it's someone like me just tring to make a dime or two?charged9250 said:I think it was $250 for the material & labor. Yeah I checked ebay and I didn't like any I saw. They were using small box tubing, the ends were not capped, and the seat support brace was only small channel iron. I think its better to go with a name brand and make sure its built strong.
Have fun.
