I'm planning on getting Maximum Motorsports full lenght SFC's for the car. When you guys installed your subframe connectors, was it necessary to pull out the carpet and seats for access and lessoning the risk of fires from welding? I think they need to come out, but I wont do it if you guys have had success installing them without pulling out the interior. Ive researched this and no one really says you need to or not.

It is recommended, by recommend I mean that I will not pull mine when I install them either, just have someone watching inside and out for any problems

I've installed multiple standard length sets and have never removed anything and never had a issue. I would make sure they the weld it a couple of inches at the time allowing some cool time in between.

Yes sir, I work at a body shop and myself and a bodyman will do it. I was just wondering about the interior.

Mine were bolted & welded, only took them an hour while I watched. Nothing came out of the interior except me. Don't remember of they're full length or something else.

They are Steedas when they were the only option & about an hour's drive from me. Their 1st shop didn't even have a lift. Jacks & jackstands only. Total cost wasn't much more than $100. Mine are round chromoly tubing, not square. They make great side jacking points.

Yeah another reason. I hate using the pinch welds to do that. I feel like mine are started to wear out because of all the up and down.

There is no way in hell I'd weld SF connectors to the floor and not remove the carpet. It'll only take you one time...

One time that you watch your carpet going up in flames as a result of a burn through that allowed a spark to get to the highly combustible sound deadener/carpet padding that the factory puts under the carpet, and now there's a nifty campfire roaring away in your back seat.

I've personally been witness to it. As a direct result of the same decision to not remove the carpet in one of my race cars. What I got for my decision to cheese out, and not remove it was a nicely melted wad of fungoo that used to be rear footwell carpet, and an interior that smelled like smoke.

But it's your car. Maybe It'll be just like all of the other guys "Who've done it before with out any problem",..and maybe it won't.

I've done 2 myself and had 1 done at a muffler shop, all with carpet in the car. No issued with any of them. Just have to mindful that it's there. Welding triggers do have two positions available to the operator.
