Subframe connectors installation pic.s???

Anyone have pictures of their subframes so that I can see exactly where they go? Has anyone done this at home, You need to keep the car level when welding them in so I guess that means that I'll probably need a shop to do it huh.

well, you dont really need a shop to do it for you, if you have 4 jackstands a welder, you can do it at home, just make sure the suspension is sitting as it would when it's on the ground, I've installed a set of full lenghts and a few of the basic SFC, basically you bolt them to the front seat bolts first, then mark where they meet with the subframes, grind off the paint form the subframes and start welding. I'm having porblems with mine cuz they barely touch the subframe rails and wont sit with the seat bolts, I hope you have better luck!

You have more to do than just weld them in on a Convertible.

With mine the shop had to grind off the convertible brackets, and then they had room to mount the sub frame connectors.

They welded them in place, and then painted them. They lifted the car on a drive on ramp... takes a while.

Our local exhaust shop quoted me 100 dollars, does this sound about right for the installation cost for a vert?

Thats a great price, if they do that job right, and properly remove those brackets.

its not something you should do at home unless you have a lift that you drive the car onto.. the suspension has to be loaded when welding them in.. if its not loaded and say one of your jackstands is alittle bit off, well your car is now welded together in that position.. and when you set it back down it will look like one side is sitting higher than the other.. $100 is a great price for the job, just make sure they grind down the surface before they weld onto it.. and if they dont paint it for you, you should hit it with some underbody paint to protect it from rusting

Austin's Pro Max in Tacoma (2 locations there) did my Global West's for $140 out the door. Everyone else wants about 200-350.

Note to self ... put down the remote and go buy a welder

Wow guys, those are all really high prices, I guess I'll be getting them installed ASAP and see about this HUGE differenece that everyone's been talking about in the verts with subframes. Thanks again guys!
