i'm going to buy some full length subframe connectors and torque box reinforcements in preparation for the suspension work i'm going to do and i have some questions.

should i go with regular full length weld in subframes and get the torque boxes separate? or should i go with the edelbrocks that have some lower torque box reinforcement already?

and should i get the upper torque box reinforcements also? or would just the lowers suffice? i was looking at UPR's deal on upper and lower torque boxes, and it seems like a good deal. i only plan to have gears, LCA/UCA, and mt streets with a stock engine so i'm not sure what would be neccesarry. thanks

In my years on SN very rarely do you hear of probs with the torque boxes, you can do it if you really think its needed...your running stock power...not monster tq that could damage em...You hear off it more on the fox bodies than ours...just my 2 cents there...wasted time and money...but to each his own...
depends on your long term goals for the car...gears...no doubt, one of the best bang's you can feel. full lenght subs...sure thing with those...they really do tighten things up....LCA's...there's another alot of us have done...the UCA's...not as many...the stock upper are pretty stout and do an ok job...

I think torque boxes are a good idea. At least the lowers anyway. I've seen several mustangs that destroyed that area with sticky tires. Most of them were NA. You are better off preventing those problems before they occur.

yeah those cars had sticky tires for the track, for a street car with street tires and street intentions they're not needed.

i guess et streets aren't sticky or for the track??? and i plan to have a drag suspension, but didn't mention it because i didn't really think it applied. anyways. thanks for the help guys. those laurel mountain ones look great and they're really cheap also, so i'm gonna go with the bare steel ones. and just out of curiosity, why are the laurel ones so much cheaper than all the other ones i've seen? they're like 1/3rd the price

edit - nevermind. i wasn't looking at the full length ones. $82 sounds fair.

Summit p/n EDL-5291
A little on the expensive side but just look at them they are nice. Three mating surfaces on the front side to match the shape of our subframe and a plate in the back to help the TQ boxes. Tubular bars and seat brackets. I'll be getting these soon!

yeah i was looking at those and was ready to buy them, but the laurel mountains look just as great and are less than half of the edels. anyways, i'm excited to finally start the process of modding my car

Yea u gotta get used to some of the things on here...it seems that more and more people arent reading...and just replying.

Anyway, will the stock axles hold up alright to ET streets? I know those tires can be pretty sticky....it seems like some people have great success with the stock axles and other guys snap them on their first time out. Just something to think about.

Good luck.

yeah. i've thought about that and i figure that if they break, i'll just replace them with stronger ones. breaking things is a good excuse to upgrade. it will also be on a stock motor so i think they'll hold up ok. i'm actually more concerned about my 123K tranny. by the time i finish the suspension it'll probably be closer to 140k. and with a harder grabbing clutch but oh well, one thing at a time. thanks again to everyone
