subs under the back seats?

i was thinking of putting two subs right under the back seat...one on each side...could i do that? would they fit...could i put them in boxes....and could i have the seat on top and people sitting down....i dont know if there is enough space but the idea sounded cool when i thought of it.all i want to know is if it could be done and how...and measurements of the inside of the backseat would be nice too...

More than likely no as the seat has cushion that fits in the area below the seat. You could get a rear seat delete kit which I have seen many people do, but it will eliminate your back seat. You could just mount the subs behind the rear back seat in the trunk which would be much easier.

But I am sure there is a way though to put subs in those recessed areas and keep a functioning back seat...although it will require quite a bit of modification that probably would not be worth it in the end. And I have never seen a stang yet that has it.

short answer - no.

To elaborate on that, there is insufficent space for even a tweeter, much less a sub of any type, lol. I'd say there may be 1-2 inches of free space underneath your seat, because as Chingon said, there is massive amounts of foam underneath your seats.

What I did was remove my back seats and custom built a box to replace my back seats with. It took me an entire 2 days to complete this project - and i'm a very experienced woodworker. If you don't like this idea just go with the trunk. Make sure to put some dynamat (or the like) in there though, or else it will sound like crap.

Don't worry about room. just get a box built that is small enough to slide into your trunk. As long as your not trying to slam 15's or bigger back their you'll be fine. I'm putting my 10in eclipse aluminums in mine and they'll fit fine with the 1100 watt amp. Don't get a ported box because you'll run out of room fast and they won't be able to build the box big enough to get the right sound. Right now I have a ported box in my taurus(big trunk) . If your up to it you can build your own but a good box from any reputible stereo store will run about 40$ and they'll know if it will fit into your car. I wouldn't want to give up the back seats just to have trunk room. For the dynamat as long as your not worried about trunk rattle its not necessary. I doubt your going to any SPL competitions where your really going to need those few extra decibles

or you could make a fiberglass box for your spare tire well and stick a 15 in that.. booom booom
