subwoofer help quick!

Got 2 6 inch JVC subwoofers I'm putting in my saturn in the back window. Got them mounted and everything, and I was wiring them directly to the speakers in the back window..and everyone told me theyre so little i wont need an amp. So, I wire one to the back window speakers and BAM, no speaker in the entire car works. As soon as I unhook them, they all work. What do I do? Is there a way to run to the battery, or to my CD player??? HELP PLEASE!

im not 100% but im pretty sure the subs you are wiring in are sucking the power from all the other speakers. It your headunit says something like 45wX4 it means, its only going to give 45 watts to each speaker MAX.. your better off buying a small 200 watt amp and wire the subs into it...

never even heard of someone wiring subs into the stereo.

your grounding out somewere when you connect them. RE-check the wiring. If the problem still continues, just run a direct line to the stereo and tap into the wires comming from the harness itself...NOT the speaker wire

its 55x4...so shouldnt 1 rear speaker get 55? so if i hook a sub to it it should be 55 to a sub and a speaker..why would it suck it out of the rest? damn, i need an amp now. lol, i had a feeling i would but people were saying i wouldnt..

well i have 2 wires coming from the harness not being used. an orange one and an orange/black one. i can just do that? how?

It would sound better if you had a amp wired in.

Do the subs have 4 connections to wire in or just 2?

they each just have a hot and ground wire coming off of them

DONT USE THOSE...one is a remote to activate the amp..or Farat cap...the other live is for a power antenna or something else. Just get a little 100 watt 2 channel amp for cheap...PM me if you need any help, I used to be a car audio and video installer & best buy for 2 years.. hit me up if you need help...

the subs are drawing all the power from your head unit sounds like, buy a small amp and hook it up right...

you will need a amp wiring kit, walmart has them for like 20 bucks that is perfect for a 200 watt amp.

just remember, wire to the battery with fuse to the amp, wire to the stereo for remote turn on, wire to a ground (shorter the better) and the RCA wires to the stereo. It really doesnt matter what gauge of wire your going to use because the subs and amp are so small.

im going to wal-mart now, they have a 200 Watt amp for $50...and $20 for the wiring kit. When I get home I'll need help so be prepared. Leaving now.

ok...got a 200 watt amp, subwoofer wiring kit, and a fuse block, me and dads gonna give it a shot. 1 question, if the amp has a fuse in it do i still put one between it and the battery?

yes you use a fuse after the battery and the remote is what turns the amp on when the deck turns on. there should be a wire in the back of the deck that says remote or somehting like that

Whoa, whoa. Your cd player ended up cutting out on a duty cycle-type trigger, to avoid damaging itself. That, or the subs are too low of an ohm rating for your deck.

Never believe what the CD players say on them for what their power output is. There's no regulation for what they are allowed to print. They could write 1000x6, and it would fly. Truth is, they rarely put out more than 15 watts per channel. 45x4 really means, you MAYBE get 45 watts, at max volume, with the deck rounded down to one channel. It's a load of crap. What you really want to look for in a deck is a good amp preout voltage.

The remote wire is triggered power. It's any power source that comes on with the ignition. If you have an aftermarket head unit, it will be the blue wire, or blue with a white stripe. If you do not have an aftermarket head, then just check for fuses that get power with key on.

Make sure you get a nice ground set up in the back, or it will make a lovely POP when you turn it on.

check ur speaker inpedence. More then likely its gonna read somethng far less then 4ohm.

And remenber, many low end GM head unit run on 8ohm speaker.

I would get tester and check ur impedence first. where did u get this speaker from? are they new or used?

got the amp all hooked up except for the RCA wires. Forgot that and left it at home, so I'll finish it tomorow, but other than that its hooked up. Oh and something else, will all this work if these subs are out of house speakers?? hahahaha yea, they are.
