Toward the front of the vehicle or toward the rear? Up-firing? I'd like to know what people have found to be a good position.

I like the way forward facing subs look when the seats are down but I also read that the bass frequencies need time to expand and therefore, facing the rear of the vehicle is better. What are some experiences with Musatangs?

mine face the rear with on a 45 degree angle... I also have a hatchback. I tried both ways and I think twords the seats make the bass sound muddy and muffled. Couples, IMO, have the problem of having to push the sound through the rear deck and seats... kinda makes the truck a bandpass box in of itself. Plus the trunk is insulated to keep the weather out of the cockpit of the car.

bass is non directional, but it will deflect off of certain surfaces and be absorbed by others, every car is different and what might work in one car might not work in a another

in my truck i have a 4th order bandpass tha blows through the bcak of the cab with 3 JLW6's,in my mustang i have 2 L5's in a sealed fiberglass box in the back seat area tha point upward,in my g/f's car i fiberglasses 1 12" in the spare tire well pointing upward
