i have a 1993 stock 120k mile 302 in my car now, it almost went 10's multble times, on only 7 psi on a paxton novi 1k, but now, i am saving up to put a real motor in it. i would like to run 12 psi of boost, at least, and possible a 100 shot of nitrous. is it possible ot build an engine, that can handle that, for under 3k?
any one have any suggestions, on what to get, c.i. wise? or any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

stroker on the gas with good flowing heads and intake, and custom cam. but for 3 grand it would be really difficult, you would have to get the hookup on a lot of stuff.

I don't think a stock block will hold up to the kind of power your wanting to make, at least not for real long. I would start saving for a Dart block if you want to run 12 psi and nitrous. I'm gonna be running a stock block 306 with H/C/I and about 10psi. I don't want to make more than 450rwhp though for longevity reasons

wow, so what would my options be , lol, i know people run 15psi of boost, i was curious, on what it takes to run that, and possibly a small shot of nitrous, would be nice

np dwhiskie, your not the 1st to say that, its funny wen i am at the track, and i run, and people tell me, that i am running a stroker motor, with alot of head work, when i did everything myself, and have had the heads off many times, and see the tiny unported ports, lol

There's a lot of options out there. The Dart block is cost-prohibitive for a lot of people, myself included. You can make decent power with a stock block if you just put a limit on your power output. I decided to go with a 306 because I figured a supercharged 306 would last longer than a supercharged stroker. A 306 with a good H/C/I set-up and boost can get you in the 450-475rwhp area.

I think that would be a good set-up. I'm kind of curious about your current combo. What trans / clutch, rear-end, cam, intake, fuel system, etc. are you using? You have a cage in it? That thing is pretty quick considering how stock it looks. Good power numbers too

What Norwalk rental was that? I know a local "club" rents it out a few times a year.

Where in OH are you?

Get a sportsman block, 331, 10psi or fogger.

pretty inmpresive times for your setup!
I would think your block wont take the abuse forever, I would be looking into a new block before slapping heads and an intake on the stock block.

I ran a forged bottom end 331 built by fox lake power products. I also ran a B50 sportsman block and with my twin turbo setup. I saw 13 psi quite a bit and never had any problems with the motor itself. The B50 sportsman block has beefier webbings and will allow you to make 800 hp or so at the crank no problem. The shortblock through fox lake was just a tad over 3k and had a custom grind cam done by fox lake.

By the way this was my previous 91 Gt I had. I have recently sold this car as it got a bit to rediculous for a street car for me. I had to have a car that could be driven 100 miles a day if it had to be and this was not the car for that so I sold it.
