I've been wanting to get some more sack out of my 98 GT. So far its pretty much stock. I wanted to know, if this mod list sounds good to start off (already got the mods in my sig).

Trick Flow Throttle Body, 75mm, Aluminum, Satin, Ford, Mustang, 1996-2004, 4.6L, Each
-
Upper Intake Plenum, High Flow EFI, Aluminum, Silver Powdercoated, Multi-Port, Ford, Mustang, 4.6L, Each
-
3.73/3.90/4.10 gears
-
and what else?

I have no idea on what to do, I already have the Cat-back exhaust, CAI, UD pullies, so I guess should I go to TB, Plenum, and gears. I don't know much about the sizes of what I should be getting so if 75mm sounds too big then let me know. I think the plenum is made for 75mm. Anything else I can do on the cheap untill I get the cash to go PI? Thanks.

Edit: BTW, how hard is it to install shorty's and does it even help out that much?

Ditch the shorties, they aren't worth it on our n/a cars. The plenum and TB are fine but I would do a pi heads, intake and cams first as they will net you good gains to match the new edge's performance and more. As for gears, 3.73's or 4.10's will be good and really get your car going. Get a bearing kit while your at.

I am planning on going PI soon but I was just wondering if I could get some small easy mods out of the way. I am pretty good at mechanical stuff but I don't trust myself installing heads on my car, and I'm looking at like $2k for parts and someone to install it. I will try junkyard diving though, but I guess I need to find out every part I need.

Edit: Do I need to do everything PI or can I just start off by buying the intake and working my way towards the whole thing?

+1000 on th PI sway and 98Cobra is right if ya wanta do it in steps you could use the pi intake now and later. PI heads do wonders on the 96-98 engines as the compression ratio is higher than the new edges so NPI conversion will have more HP than a stock 99-04 GT.
As for gears (oh no here we go again :nonono: ) alot of guys on here like the 4.10 but I think 3.73 is better and thats what I got. Better for highway usage.

Yeah I'd love to do 4.10s but its like getting it in the butt at the pumps these days.

I thought I saw something on summit that said you must have the PI heads to use PI intake so thats why I was curious. I'd way rather do it in steps. Atleast the intake now, and heads and cams when I get the cashes.

Ya i used to think the same thing till I saw several people on here with just the intake, look at 98Cobras signature for instance. But instead of the stock plastic plenum I would get the Trick or PP one, or go all out with a P-51 :hail:
