Just for the record, I cut that car up with a sawzall..... I was the only one doing the cutting. My buddies came just to help me load it in the truck.

You have OCD, dont you. Your obsession with detail is a little scary. Removing/detailing the timing cover because it had a little too much grease? Wow.

When I pulled and swapped my motor the timing cover was removed and detailed. I detailed the damn k-member, trans, trans mount....... OCD/ADD/ADHD is a bitch!

Lookin good Handz.

OEM OIL COOLER INSTALL

After doing a Little Research, I found out my '98 is a little special.... Its a 5-Speed car, But it was equipped with a OEM Oil Cooler.

As far as I know (Research), Police Cars and Taxi 4.6 Engines were all fitted with a Oil Cooler thats uses coolant coming from the radiator to cool the Oil.

I know automatic mustangs were fitted with this cooler..... But VERY FEW 5-Speed GT cars were fitted with this Oil Cooler.... My '98 GT was one of those cars.

I decided to Keep this unique piece on the new Motor.... So i moved it over.

To remove the oil cooler, you need a 1/2 Inch allen Wrench (BIG SUCKER!!!)

In the Pic Below you can see the Oil cooler and the Oil Filter Adaptor.

Left = '00 Oil Filter Adaptor
Right = '98 Oil Cooler

The OIL COOLER uses 2 pieces and Flows cool water coming into the motor around the oil entering the oil filter. Great idea if you ask me... But I get ford got cheap and ditch this cause it was too expensive to produce.

To Use the OIL COOLER you MUST YOU BOTHE PIECES on the OIL COOLER. YOU CANT MIX AND MATCH OIL COOLER AND OIL ADAPTOR PARTS

Oil Cooler Installed!!!

'00 vs '98 Crank Pulley

The 2000 PI motor uses a different pulley with alot of weight on it. Ford said this was to reduce engine noise.... I Decided to use my '98 Pulley to keep the accessories the same But since my '98 Pulley rubber was all Messed up, I bought a new one from NAPA.

Left = '00 Pulley
Right = '98 Pulley

Rotted '98 Pulley.... FAIL

INSTALL DAY!!!

New Motor Ready to Go with 1998 Accessories!!!!

OEM TOB and Clutch Ford JUST for good Measure

FLUIDS!!!! ONLY THE BEST!!! Redline Trans Fluid is The BEst I Have Used!!! Way Better Feel than Royal Purple Which I had Before!!!

Car feels GREAT. Very FRESH. Since all of the suspension on the car is new it feels very good with the new motor.

the PI motor pulls ALOT harder up top than the NPI did.

That is a ton of work. What a great project and a good deal for your stang- lower mileage motor and a decent gain in hp. I'm glad you are happy with the results.

Nice work! I just put in a new PI longblock and trans into mine along with a Circle D. converter and this thing just loves to spin my nittos off from 2nd gear rolls.

good choice on keeping the wiring harness. I did the same for my 98 GT. Personally, I like the spark plug wires showing unlike the later models.

if you still have the gauge cluster out of the wrecked car.....one of the "little touches" that make things different would be to swap the red needles from the newer car to your car.

otherwise....sweet build dude!!!

i did this to mine also, it was good at first but the new whore off very fast. i traded it for a 97 150 4x4 from a buddy of mine. he put cms stg2 cams and had it tuned and made 273hp @the wheels. he let me drive it the day after he had it all done and holy s*** that thing ran GOOOOD. but i DO NOT want that thing back by any meens, in other words he has dogged the F out of it. i mean he has beat it to death and beyond. im just waiting for him to call and tell me he blew it up and sell it for REAL cheap
