Summering Modding Time

Ok, guy its the start of summer an i plan to mod out my motor pretty good like i just need some imput on what would be best for my set up im wanting about 450+hp 500 trq an I got a 351c 2v pretty stock electronic ignition edelbrock 2v rpm intake fuel pump edelbrock 600 an dyno max racing bullets a turbo 400 with a 9 inch rear will that even handle that much power? what im basically just wantin to do is get 4v heads cam headers 4v intake an a bigger carb with this do u think i can be gettin the numbers i want or is there more i just want some info an what will get me these numbers an what is the best products. Thnx
 
1. Bigger carb: no expert, but I'd think a 750 would do nicely.
2. Bigger cam: dependin on your plans for the car, big high power rpm cam for strip, something smaller and more streetable for a driver, or a compramise of the two for both.
3. Intake that matches your carb power band. Prolly want a single plane for the strip and a dual plane if it sees much street driving at all.
4. Heads: depending on what you can afford...I'd think the AFR 185s would be nice for a 351, but once again, no expert, just an opinion.
5. Nice pair of headers and exhaust big enough to let the engine breath with that power.
6. Ignition upgrade: box, coil.
7. What does your fuel pump flow? It's gonna be a pretty thirsty engine.

Ummm...make sure your bottom end is strong enough to handle that kind of power as well, I don't know whether you'd need completely new parts or just stronger bolts, my cleveland knowledge is pretty limited.

That should have you there NA easy. Can always add a little giggle gas to the mix.

A 9 inch is about the best rear end you can get: chevy and mopar guys alike even admit and use them.
 
My summer essentially ends on July 11th when I leave for quantico for 6 weeks. Plus I have 2 classes I'm taking until then but here are my current plans for the car:
Comp Cams XE268H which is sitting 2 feet away awaiting install.
5 leaf mid-eyes which I should have any day.
620 drops in the front
Shelby drop.
4 wheel discs - these too are awaiting the install of the rears and the arrival of the fronts.
I need to redo all of my chrome work.
I want to redo my interior, and I plan to attempt my own upholstery - trying to decide if I wanna use leather or vinyl, though I know vinyl is period correct, but it is my daily driver, not a show car.
I need to get the scratch some PRICK put on my hood fixed.
Oh yes...headers...I'm pretty sure I'm going to order those int he next couple days.
New exhaust system, though I've no clue what system I want to put in.

*Edit* almost forgot the strut rods up front. They're shot. One is bent!!!! Causing hella vibration problem on that side.
How much of this will I do this summer? Good question. Alot of it I suspect.
 
First of all, getting 450+ hp is not gonna be easy, and more than likely its not going to be a very street friendly combo. But anyway, heres a pretty stout setup. I don't know too much about clevs, but i think this would get u somewhat close to your goal...

I'd go with a 750 cfm holey or demon carb, Cam that will pull up to 6000-6500 rpm, mild single plane intake, im pretty sure the 4v clev. heads are pretty good, do some port work and they should be alright. Or you could try to get ahold of some aussie heads. Or if u have the money, i believe edelbrock and a few other companies make alum. heads for clevs. As for your tranny, u say you have a turbo 400??? thats a bowtie tranny, you sure its not a c6? Your probably gonna want to get a nice stall around 3200-3500, and a decent gear in the 9 incher to match the high reving engine.

You could just build a more streetable motor, and put a 125-150 shot on it. This way you would have better driveability, better gas milage, but still have the HP and TQ number you want when u take it to the strip. If your going to run nitrous, i would make sure u have at least forged pistons, and ur ignition is up to par.
 
its not the stock 2v motor its a aftermarket crate motor an i dont know the flow of the fuel pump but i know its pretty good an yes it is a turbo 400 i donno why the lady i bought it from got it put on there but so far its good its got a shift kit to
 
Yay clevelands! Im building one right now, I heard the 2v heads are much better street heads and only go with the 4v if your goin to the track a lot. Ive heard numbers around 400-450 with 2v heads, you will probly need decent compression and a healthy cam, big carb... I say keep the heads, take them to a shop that knows what they are doing and get them fixed up.
I know a guy who runs low 11's some times into the 10's with 2v heads.
 
IM building the same Exact thing, I was told for that power I need to run a big solid cam, 4v closed chambered heads, single plane intake, 750 or so carb and of course the adjustable valve train, nice headers. From what im told the 351c stock bottom end is good and can hold up to around 500HP? Right now im finishing up my suspension and detailing the engine bay them in starting the process of transforming my 1972 2v to a 4v quench headed street monster. Dont forget is you run 4v heads you will want a higher stall and lower gearing to get you up in the RPM's faster. Im going with a built c4 with 3k stall and 4:11.
