I recently purchased an 87 GT in really really good condition with Chrome Cobra R rims 17" I wanted to purchase the motorsport bare block for the 300-400 price range and drop the summit 306 rebuild kit in. Now I'm confused with 3 things. I have the Holley Systemax intake so I'm wondering what camshaft? What heads most importantly? And I'd like to put a "noisy" supercharger on it. I'm not looking to pull huge amounts of horsepower just something reliable to drive daily. Thanks in advance.

PS Semi Budget Building to Keep in Mind

There are a lot of good cam options you can go with. The stock cam isnt bad if you want a good idle and nice drivabilty. The car will still make plenty of power and stay on a budget.

There are a ton of heads you can run too. AFRs, TFS and Edelbrocks are three nice aluminum options. Dont be affraid to buy used.

Save yourself the 400 on that block, its just a standard new block, a good used block is actually better because its gone throught 1000's of heat cycles. Use the money on machining/boring the block.

Stock cam is excellent choice for everyday driver, and works excellent if you add blower. This would save you money too.

Personally, Id choose the TrickFlows. The rotating of the valves allow them to install 2.02/1.60 valves without different pistons for clearence.
Bigger valves= more air in for more power out.
