Summit brand throttle bodies, anyone use them?

from what ive seen, summit slaps their name on other companies products. summit fuel pumps are walbro for example. not sure if this is the case with TBs.

Summit doesn't manufacture anything, really. Just about every Summit-branded item they sell is just a part manufactured by some other major company, minus the packaging and the logo (or sometimes they even file/grind the logo off). It's a crapshoot as to whether or not it's a good part when you go with Summit stuff. Some of it's really good, and some of it is garbage. It depends on what un-branded part it is that they're really selling. If their throttle bodies are just knockoff Accufab TB's, then you'll be saving a few bucks by not paying for the fancy name/logo of the 100% legit Accufab TB; if it's some other crap, though, then you might just be better off by doing as suggested and just springing for the one you know for sure will work.

If we were talking about something like mufflers or X-pipes or whatever - stuff that's not really a mechanical part that can actually fail (although it might fit poorly or look a little rough) - then that'd be one thing, but something like this ... I dunno if I'd wanna risk getting a turd just to save a few bucks. I've heard their manual steering rack combo is a pretty good deal, since it's just a de-branded Flaming River setup for a lot cheaper, but some of their other stuff like some of their mufflers are made by low-end companies like Thrush.

You just gotta ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky?

Ive had good and bad summit parts. I bought a summit ignition box, which i am pretty sure its a rebadged mallory box, looks exactly the same and a little cheaper than the Mallory box. It works good with no problems.

Bought a summit brand coil. The first one out of the box was dead and wouldnt work. summit replaced it and the next one worked fine.

Bought a summit brand distributor, and that was a piece of crap. I dont know if it was a rebadged good unit. Mine that i got just wasnt near the quality as a stocker or a good brand. It was all loose feeling, just felt like they had a looser tolerance when making it. Also the TFI that came with it was bad out of the box, and the cap didnt clamp down very good. Car missed some and just overall ran worse with this unit. I sent it back and got a reman stock dizzy from the parts store and havent looked back.

Thats my expierence.

Throttle bodies whistle because of the sharp edges around the IAC ports and EGR ports. If all you have is a whistle that is driving you crazy, go in there and grind down some of the sharp edges and see if it helps.
