so I'm trying to adjust the valves on my 302 ford and when I built it, I did the 0-lash then 1/2 turn for "best results " but when I started her she runs really rough and will hardly idle(the motor will rock).
so I backed them all off and I'm trying to adjust them while its running and I get her ticking then turn until it stops and it sounds okay until I do the other half turn to set it, then it starts idle rough and tries to die....
I don't know what to do help?

Not really enough info for reasonable diagnosis guess

"Just built" ???? is it even broke in?
What all is included in that. cam size

What year, model ect? some have pedistal mount rockers

Start by Confirming base line tuning for carb and timing

Getting all the valves to open the same will run better but only after tuned for that

you are starting at the wrong end there. first thing is to make sure you have no vacuum leaks. next get the initial timing set properly. then get the carb set. doing this first should get you done right.
