Sunroof drain hoses

I have noticed a leak coming from my sunroof. I have read a lot of the posts about the seals and the drain hoses. I have already replaced the weather striping, mainly because it was looking old and was cheap to do. I blew out the hoses and could feel the air below the car for all of them except for the passenger side. My main question is: what is the easiest way to replace the hose. I would rather not have to take the head liner down the entire way. I know the hose in inside he pillar, just not sure of the best way to get it out and get the new one in. Any advice would be great.

i ran a thin wire down the whole tube.you be surprised how much crap gets in there.

you can use an air compressor, LIGHTLY blow into the tubes. it will help get the dirt and leaves out,but if you use too much pressure you will blow the drain hose off the nipple. this is how ive done it

I used a compressor and blew air into the hose. I could hear it coming out, but not under the car. It sounds like it is broken in the pillar. that's why i need to know the easiest way to replace it.

You didn't’t mention which pillar you heard the leak in.
A- pillar is the front
C- pillar is the rear

The tubes are also color coded for front & rear – White tubes for the front and a Light Blue tubes for the rear.

As much as I hate to say this, the only correct way I know of to fix a leaky or broken drainage tube is to remove the headliner.
Which includes removing sun visors, L&R A-pillars, L&R headliner trim above door, rear headliner trim piece at rear window, interior map light, L&R front seat belts behind driver/passenger seats and rear interior 1/4 panel plastics

Hmm, where do the rear tubes drain to? I've never actually noticed where they go?

The front drain tubes for the sun roof exit in the rear most part of the front splash shield where there is a somewhat rectangular looking housing with a hole on the backside of it. You’ll need to remove the plastic splash shield to actually see the drain tube.

The rear drain tubes for the sun roof exit through an elongated recessed hole about 1-1/2” in front of the rear wheel opening where the body is spot-welded to the floor pan.
If you have a GT the rear exit drain hole will be cover up by the ground effect attached on the bottom between the door and the wheel well opening.

Wow, i've never noticed that hole for the rear drains before...interesting

I tried with air first to find the rear exit point but I could never trace it down, so I took the wife's turkey baster with some water and finally found that location under the GT ground effects.
The exit hole is actually hid under the GT lower door moulding and the lower front quarter moulding in front of the rear wheel.

I had the same problem with my roof also. I had to drop the front of the headliner and remove the plastic recepticles for the sunroof slides. I guess the factory seal around those deteriorate after age. I just put some silicone sealant around the housing and reinstalled 'em. The hard part was removing and reinstalling the metal bracket across the front of the headliner. I had the hardest time with those irritating clips that hold it on.

when i had my 91 gt, i had a sunroof on it and it was the most irritating and annoying pos ive ever seen. It constantly leaked and was riddled with rust around the drain holes. Fords genius engineering dept. decided it would be a fantastic idea to secure the drainholes above the lowest portion of the drainpan allowing water to sit there and rust. Honestly i cut it out and welded in a solid piece of sheet metal as a replacement. I never had any leaking problems after that But seriously, its not that difficult to replace the hoses if thats the issue. Get yourself a snake and its not to difficult, just have some patience. You do have to remove a great deal of interior panels however. Make sure you label every screw and be specific otherwise youll have a great deal of leftover and youll be stumped.

can you please repost the pictures. I am trying to replace my drain lines. They were not in the car when I got it. They were plugged off.
