What's the deal with aftermarket sunroofs? I don't want a convertible, but I do like a sunroof. Is it possible without screwing up the roof structure?

I have seen two different s-197's with sunroofs. I do not feel they did any justice to the looks IMO.

It all depends on where the bracing is, which I would guess the sunroof would go right throuh it. I'm sure that you can get one, just hope you never roll the thing or get hit by a truck.

That's why I don't want a convertible. I'd only get a sunroof if it didn't kill the structural qualities. I figure it's not likely, but was just checking to see if there are any decent options.

Well if you get a vert you can always put a roll bar in it. I've only seen one s197 with a sunroof in person and IMO it just doesn't look right.

The roof panel of the S197 contains no structural support of any kind! It is just a headliner inside and a single sheet of thin aluminum on the outside. All of the structural support is at the edges which proves how well built the S197 isFor the Glassback roof, almost all of the roof panel is cut away for total replacement. IMO, the Glassback is the only decent looking "sunroof" option for the S197! The sunroof pic posted earlier doesn't fit the look of the S197 at all.

Putting a flat window in a curved roof looks terrible.

Just don't roll a vert and you won't have any issues! For that matter I don't think you would want to roll a coupe either!

ASC, American Sunroof Corp used to do sunroofs in anything. And they did a good job. I've seen their work, I'd have it in my own car, and I'm picky.

I dont know if this is correct but I assume it is... I talked to a few people that work for Ford as mechanics and one was in the parts depeartment and then a few others all told me that you cant put sunroofs on the mustangs due to the curves and everything on the roof. There is no straight area for them to make it even so they said even if you could find one and wanted it most people will not install it because there would be leaking, etc.. They told me that sun roofs wont work. Again I could be wrong especially if people have seen them on but I was told by a lot of people that you cant do it. If you can let me know so I dont give incorrrect information. LOL

I have the Glassback, and it is hand down the coolest mod I've done to the car.
