either way, it is at least $69K. i too would actually choose the Z06 over it. guess Ron Pratt will have the first one for about, oh i don't know, let's say 1 million? way too overpriced.

well i mean if we're up their in that price range u might as well hop in one of these, or i mean if that's not enough you could always get the 600 hp viper that's coming out for the same price as the super snake almost.http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=214635512&dealer_id=1387305&car_year=2005&num_records=&search_type=both&make=ASTON&keywordsfyc=&distance=0&transmission=&model=DB9&make2=&address=32806&certified=&advanced=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&max_price=&sort_type=priceASC&min_price=&body_code=0&end_year=2008&color=&keywordsrep=&start_year=1981&drive=&engine=&style_flag=1&doors=&fuel=&cardist=856

That makes a lot more sense than the 'vette. One, that pony will destroy the 'vette, end of story. Two, even the "plain-ole" GT500 will be the only car you'd see, if you stuck it in the middle of a lot full of 'vettes, never mind that beauty. I'm a Corvette fan, but at the end of the day, they're pretty common and can tend to get lost in the crowd, once you've seen enough of them on the road.

The Viper, however, has a LOT more curb appeal. The Super Snake/KR/etc, blow the Corvette away, for muscular appeal.

I do concede, however, that if I were infinately wealthy, I'd buy a 'vette - for my wife. I'd get a KR for myself.

hello??? The vette costs 50k, the Z06 costs about 70k. The z06 will hammer the SS. I bet on the ring the z06 would be the SS by 1 minute or more.

Given weight, stance, etc, I bet the z06 would humiliate the Super Snake on a twisty track. For daily use and personal enjoyment, however, the pony beats the vette as easily as the vette takes the track-meet. Let's face it, the choice of Senior Hairdressers everywhere, the Porsche Boxter, probably takes the SS at anything other than a 1/4 mile (ie, straight) track, due to superior handling.

My wife can look pretty in her pretty corvette. I'll look bad-a$$ in my bad-a$$ Mustang.

this is worse than magazine racing. we are making assumptions about the performance of a car that has not even been built yet. lets at least wait for one to be tested by ANYONE before we make comments about which one will beat which and by how much.

a 415hp roush beats the GT 500 on a track, then why will adding 250 more HP help the GT500????

I was playing Forza 2 last night, My grand national with about 1010hp is no faster than when I only have it at 350hp... In fact the slower detuned cars tend to be faster. MT drove the TNT viper years ago, they called it a death trap that is un-drivable.

That's the beauty of the car manufacturers...they make many different models/performance levels/prices so we may have a braod range to choose from. If it were up to you, there might only be a couple models offered...the most powerful/fastest on the planet and one for hauling family/friends around in...
For the price the SS will be fetching, I'd rather buy the FR500C race car direct from FRPP!!!!! $125,000 and you KNOW you'll be getting the *****!!!!! Although it probably makes for a horrible DD, if you could even use it for that...

So now we have sunk below Bench and Magazine racing, to basing our knowledge off the latest video game.

I am so ashamed to own the same car as you do. i may have to sell my mustang and go buy a ricer. You make even Import crowd seem intelligent and realistic

yeah, for real. nerd alert.

The person that buys the Ford probably doesn't care about the ZO6. I wouldn't.

There's something about a 700HP+ mustang that a Z06 will never have.

Well, there's something about the mustang that a crovette will never have.

I guess most people don't realize, you're not only paying for the car, but for its exclusivity. And it really doesn't matter if it may not be worth it to you, but it definitely is for someone out there. I don't care what anybody else says, the mustang has an appeal that no other car on this planet has, and thats why people are willing to pay huge amounts of money for a special edition Mustang.

Can we compare the Shelby with something at least in the same class? Camaro, Challenger? Just because GM left a void in their lineup doesn't automatically mean that the Mustang is now taking on the Corvette. If GM suddenly decided to stop making the corvette for a year, then could we gloat over the Shelby compared to the Chevy Cobalt? Silly? Yes..
