SUPERCHARGED 2001 MUSTANG GT

I was wondering i am gettin ready to buy a vortech SQ-trim for 3,800 dollars or a procharger w/ 3-stage intercooler pushing 8 psi for 4,100 dollars. What could i expect to get out of each and what is the better choice... I have an automatic tranmission with every bolt-on.. no stall converter yet. Also i heard prochargers are harder to to dyno tune. if i got a steeda ecu with vortech. would i have to still dyno tune it?

Are you dead set on a Vortech or Procharger? Have you looked at Kenne Bell yet? They are amazing Lots of low end torque too. They make full boost at 2k.

Agree with the KB reco...but whatever you go with...dynotune it!

You're going to spend thousands..spend a few hundred more and get her tuned properly...or you could be spending thousands to grenade your motor

Well i am gettin a vortech or procharger on monthly payments. plus i hear kenne bells are hard to tune. Would a vortech with 10psi give me close to a kenne bell?

KB's are not hard to tune if you swap out he dog of a stock fuel pump...KB won't recommend it...they've had no trouble....but we had to on mine...the stock pump doesn't flow enough...can keep up to the tune.

When we installed the new pump...whammo

if you go with a KB, you'll get more low end power because twin screw blowers produce a constant amount of boost. with a procharger, you'll make more peak hp but it'll be at the top of the powerband - around 600o rpm. no matter what you get, it's worth it to get it properly dynotuned. you'll get more power that way. if you're running an intercooled procharger or an aftercooled vortech, you shouldn't have to retard the timing so getting a tune isn't an absolute necessity. still, i wouldn't trust my mustang to a stck tune after i put a blower on it.

KB is not hard to tune, no tune is needed. The chip with the kit comes with the right tune already.
Regarding peak HP, I haven't seen a Procharger or Vortech that makes more peak HP than a KB at same boost level. On a stock block, they have lower powerband than the KB and make less peak HP too.

yeah but if that was the case you could just as easily do that for a KB or turbo, and he seems to be stating that he's getting one of these because he can get them on monthly payments...
