supercharged 2k gt

just had a supercharger put on my 2000 gt. i was just wonderin if anyone knew what was goin on with it, now in the cold mornings, i starts and dies out. if u start it and dump the gas pedal, it'l run but wana die out for about 5 minutes. it has the stock maf sensor, upgraded injectors. it hasnt been tuned in yet either. my main question here is the maf sensor.....should it be replaced all together, or just recalibrated??? ive seen actual blower meters for supercharged apps. thanx

theres your problem you need to have your mass air meter calibrated according to your injector size (pro-M recommended), then get yourself a tune. not only will a tune make your car more drive-able...but it will unleash your optimum HP and reliability

Driving your car after you install a supercharger without a tune, is like driving your car after you put on new wheels but you don't have any tires yet. I am not trying to be a smarta$$, but your just asking for trouble. First off you can NOT run oversized injectors on a stock MAF without a tune. Since you are supercharged and running bigger injectors a new MAF is not required, but you would be crazy not to upgrade. Your stock one will probably peg out and cause major fuel problems like leaning out on the top end. Which is catastrophic on a supercharged engine. Just get it tuned before you drive it anymore, it's not safe and will just damage your motor.

I completely agree with the above posts.

Your problems starting the car in the morning are likely the least of your worries. You spent the cash on the car, the supercharger, dont let it go to waste by blowing your motor...get it tuned.

I still run my stock maf with no drivibilty issues. Did you aleast install a chip with the kit ?. Thats all I did and I have been happy. Also have tried your idle control valve ? It could be dirty or old. If it was because the maf was calibrated incorrectly why would it idle fine after 5 minutes?

Get one of those superchips uh chips LOL, and you should be good but I wouldnt run it hard until you atleast put it on a dyno and see how the A/F ratio is running...if its safe, save your money and screw the tune, unless you just want a little more power, as well as a bunch of 6K pulls on the dyno...which I say no thanks to.If its safe, I am not going to put my engine through that just so I can get a few extra horses.Thats my opinion so dont take it like thats how it should be, just what I will do.Good luck.

Now when the guy installing my charger dynoed the car, all and all he ran 2 times. the first was 323hp, and 326tq. the second it was 324hp, and 333tq. from what i can see on the air fuel, it started with the first run at 17@ about 2800. and started goin down then back up, the lowest it got was 14@4800. now on the second run started at about 15@2200 and dropped right down to under 14 in a 1000rpm. after that the lowest it got was just under 12@5000rpm then kinda evened off. now i know this isnt all too helpfull the way im describing it, but he told me the way the ecu was programmed from vortech, it was tuned to run slightly rich. and that i would have to eventually get this thing fine tuned. My main question, shoud i wait a little longer to get the car fully dyno tuned, or just buy a plug in chip for the mean time,if it helps any.????????

Your A/F is dangerously lean there bud..17!!!! How are those A/F ratios considered rich?

Get your car tuned ASAFP...or you're goning to grenade that thing.

A tuner will get that A/F like it's on a rail...12.0 all the way accross the rpm range. 17...15...14...that's just asking for trouble.

You should not be driving that car that lean with a blower.

If he dynoed your car then he adjusted the MAF output for the injector size. You dont need a new MAF or to recalibrate it again. Now the A/F at 15 is a bit dangerous and you should get it tuned again to get it down to a safer level and you should pick up a bit of HP.

I just shared the info in this post with my Tuner...and his response was "who's the hell is the installer...that makes me want to cry!"

A/F at 15 on a blown application is not "a bit dangerous"...it's Russian roulette.

Running 15 A/F on an NA application should never happen either...it's too damn lean.

If that was my car...I wouldn't even drive it to the shop...I'd be calling a flat bed.

Find a Tuner who has trained with SCT...buy the damn chip along with a custom dyno tune...and get that car safe ASAFP...or you won't be driving it for much longer. :bang:

If you just plug in a mail-order chip...you're not helping the cause either.

Not only would it be safe and put out more power by getting a tune, but driveability would be great. No bucking, stalling, idle problems, etc.

At that a/f under power, won't be long for a piston to go BANG. :(

Must cheaper to get a tune then replace parts.
