ok, I have read all the hype about supercharging the new Mustangs, and they claim fairly big numbers. are the claims true? i know ProCharger claims the most out of a bolt on system, but how hard is it on the motor? are their claims true about the power and torque? basically what i would be doing is ordering an 06 GT, bone stock 5 speed, lowering the car and then supercharging it, the only other thing i would change performance wise would be the mufflers and i would get an axle back system only. so now, with a stock motor on pump gas, we have 93, 92 and 91 around here, how reliable would this ProCharger system be for every day driving, and a little playing every now and then? i am not looking to race the car, but want more than 300hp, but i want to keep my warranty also, so that may play a part in the decision. anybody running the ProCharger on a stock motor, let me know. thanks

If you want to keep your warranty then your best bet is to try and talk your dealer into installing the Saleen blower when you buy it. Procharger, Vortech are both Centrifigal superchargers and make big high end power and are built for the 1/4 mile IMHO. Saleen, Whipple and Kenny Bell are roots or twin screw blowers and are good low end and mid range power but top out quicker than centrifgal blowers. Saleen you are going to be limited on the amount of boost and power because of their unique design inlet. KB makes some really good power Whipple isn't out yet. The only unknown is how much power these bottom ends will hold. I've got from a good source that with the right tune you can run 425HP all day long, only time will tell how much big power the bottom end will take. Hope this answers some questions

431rwhp on my vortech kit.But unless you have a friend at a ford dealership who works in service, forget about your warranty remaining intact as far as the powertrain etc.

430-440 rwhp on my procharger and have been running good for 6 months so far. I dont have anything else except SLPs. I got my kit when it fist came out and now they have the BAP some I'm sure you should get a little more HP. The procharger you can take off and keep your warrenty.. but that would be a pain either way. It seems that anything up to 430-440rwhp seems save.. most the SC's that are out are boosting people to that.. I would go with the procharger, vortech,.or KB. The saleen is only good if you plan not to boost up more.. may people buy it to be safe.. then spend more moeny to get bigger injectors, 90mm maf and pullys and they get the same as the other units.. but at a higher cost.. dont make since... either way any extra power to the stang will be beautiful =-)

just be cool, don't go crazy with the boost, stick to 6 psi or less

pick the blower for the purpose - centrifugal for high-end power (like alot of track use), or twin-screw for low-end power (fun on the street, stoplight to stoplight)

I heard allot of belts slipping on the saleens though.. any fix for that yet?

dunno, I've talked to a few Saleen-blown owners and haven't heard of anyone having that trouble...??

if you get the right size belt it shouldn't be a problem (there's marks for where the tensioner should sit in place)

The pulley that is two sizes smaller can get slippage. There is a fix for it and I think the thread is on Modular Fords site.

still no fix for the belt slippage with the 3.4 pulley from jdm. I'm going to try a goodyear belt that has cross cut groves and hope it stops the slipping. If that dont work I'll put a larger pulley on. I'm a little worried now that Bryan blew his procharged 05 up.

Huh?

Just change the pulley and boost however high you want (assuming proper injectors and mass air meter). Talk to JimIII at JDM about what they're doing with the Saleen S/C.

I'm not saying you can't swap pullies, I'm saying that comparing the two twin screw blowers KB vs. Saleen the Saleen blower is going to max itself out way before the KB due to the inlet. I'm not saying you can't make more power than stock, I'm saying the Saleen is the most limited blower out there when looking at the lineup of options. Don't get me wrong, the Saleen unit is the one I'm looking closest at but that's to limit my power and to feel "safe". After owning 2 Vortech cars I just don't want to deal with the issues of a Centrifugal blower on an every day driver.

Nope not way before - or even close . the limit is the 2300cc not the air inlet. the limit on the kb (fine product when it come out) is all the turns the air must make to get into the cylinders and it gets beat so much the intake tempture rises which requires more boost to make the same power of a saleen at lower boost.

Listen man, I'm not here to fight over the internet I'm just sharing information that I've learned. Take a look at the inlet on the back of the Saleen blower, how can you not say that's restricting the air flow into the blower. I like the nice runner design but you still have to get air to those runners, you can port out and polish the KB piece to free it up even more, how are you going to open up the restriction on the Saleen piece? I am more than familiar with how a blower works and the heat that's created with the compressing of air, again all I'm saying is out of the 4 blowers listed above the most limited blower is the Saleen blower. I'm not saying it's not a good piece or that it sucks, as I've stated above it's even one of the blowers on my list I'm just stating the information that I've learned. The KB piece is making over 500 RWHP, how many Saleen blowers out there are doing that. Also, can you point out all these bends that the air has to make with the KB piece that would cause it to be restrictive. Not being a smart ass, just trying to learn.

Jason,

Ummm I think you are going to find some people here have no clue what they are talking about and are going to come off as tech gods and intend to argue with you. I seriously doubt some of these guys are going to listen to you, even though you had some pretty impressive cars in your past. Very few people can put a car to your name, however I can. This site did manage to chase away Johnny and Kris and a few other names I am sure you would recognize.

Sorry I went off topic with that rant but I have decided to stop offering tech answers here because of the above. I guess you can call it a warning for what you are going to encounter here at StangNet.

I'm not picking a fight either , just letting you know. the saleen design shoots air directly into the cylinder. All the bends with air in the KB is reported by MM&FF - Same article it does say it produces lots of HP yes I can put my race tune in mine & have over 500hp - It just might not last. KB says the clutch will go at 435 so thats where I'm trying to keep mine. We are in the same area so if you want to go to check mine out I be out on Thursday @ Sonic in Carrollton for more local info go here http://www.dfwstangs.net/
