I never understood why you people say you don't want torque down low. You put gears in your car so you feel more torque, don't you? And not to knock centrifugals, but on the street you are not always in the 4500-6000 range to make your boost. Nice thing about KB is that you can drive it normally and enjoy the extra power. Inertia is what kills engines, ringing it neck to get boost and power is what destroys engines. Do the math!!! We have another fellow engineer in here and if he knows anything about rotational dyamics he will agree. Inertia is multiplied dramatically with rpms, that is just how it works, you are much better off with the power down low than up high (for engine sake) The torque stays consistent throughout the power band, you have it low and high. Don't be mad cause you have centri and not a twin screw

Very true. Boost at just high RPM is not good. Think of it this way: a person is riding a bike in a short gear and is peddling very fast..... all the sudden someone pushes him (boost) now you have a person of whom is the engine and boost which is the person pushing him on that short gear. It wears you out right?

you would think a KB blower would be faster then a centrifcle with the same boost.. but it is just not true.. yes KB makes more power down low.. but when your racing at the track you anywhere from 4000 to 6000 RPMS and the centrifcles perform way better at thoughs RPMS.. but id still rather get the KB.. but I went for the allen engine because I like the kit..

KB makes both more low-end power and more peak power than a centri at same boost on stock block.
Just look at the numbers
Why would anyone buy an ATI

the procharged 9 psi mustang are faster in the qaurter then a 9 PSI KB..

I dont know why.. but thats just how it is.. someone smart should come on here and tell us why..

From the TCCoa web site:

Yes, Mike Siska's 1995 AED T-Bird ran 10.90 @ 125.5 mph in Ohio. You can make serious power with these kits, it just depends on how serious your budget is. Mike is currently making 500 RWHP with the AED whipplecharger blower

Hey you asked for it Dumba** Being a newb has nothing to do with the ability to research and comprehend. Do you think that because you have over 2000 posts that you aren't a newb? Your comments and lack of presented evidence relevant to this subject matter prove otherwise.

dumbass huh. Last time I check, those positive displacement blowers are on the last of everyone's list that wants real performance at the track.

go ahead and have fun on the street. whooptie freaking do.

You have to go through the rest of the rpms to get there, that 60 ft.

you dont launch at 1000 RPMS is what is the problem..

I know what you guys are thinking and it make since.. trust me I dont understand it either.. but centricles are faster.. you would think that a car that has a more usable power band would be faster then a car with just peak power.. that isnt true.. I dont know why.. but ill tell you this my 318 RWHP roots blown mustang feels faster then my friends 400 RWHP procharger mustang.. but he would kick my ass in a race..

not dogging either blower , I love them all but my vortech non intercooled 370 rwhp 372 rwtq 3.27 geared car beat my buddies roush with 381 rwhp and 398 rwtq 3.73s, my car pulls harder up top than his car .... only time he beats me is from a dead stop because I dont have good street tires and hes got monster 295 bfg kds out back ......from a roll I leave him everytime ......even if I give him the hit ..... I dont understand it either because on the dyno his car is obviously out doing mine by a little bit ......

huh?

not trying to bash anyone but....in that article...a mach1 with a vortech and only 350hp....who the hell tuned that....my bone stock mach1 dynoed at 301hp 326tq at the wheels...surely a vortech wouldnt just give ya 50hp who the hell would want one anyways for that much performance.....and its 4v vs 2v that mach shouldve been puttin down around 400hp i would think

Agreed...should be 400+ at the wheels.

Also WRXracer, I'm not flaming, but your numbers are awfully low for 9psi as well. Get that car tuned.......SOON! You should be seeing around 360 or so.

my car has a great tune roots blowers are known for not making a lot of peak HP.. the reason the KB makes more power then a roots is because its a twin screw and is more effencnt.. if you look at my dyno I make huge amounts of torqe and HP really low..

my blower is just like the saleen blower and I dyno the same as the saleen.. every knows that they dont make a lot of HP.. I only make 40 HP less then the roots blown 03 cobra..

Actually, although your blower is an M-90 like the Saleen Series II, that's about the only similarity. The AED manifold and intercooler design is far superior to that of the Saleen. The Allen kits are among the best engineered I have ever seen. That's what going on my Cougar when I get around to it.

That being said, unless you've had your car dyno tuned, the original tune from AED is very concervative. They've been known to have a veeery safe tune to comply with California emmisions standards and to keep any warranty claims down. I've seen guys on TCCOA with the kit pick up as much as 25rwhp having the combo retuned.

wrx I think (correct me if im wrong) is running stock manifolds and Hpipe , thats one reason his numbers are down some in the HP department ....mr friends roush only put down 322 rwhp first run on dyno , after modular powerhouse tuned it 366 rwhp with just 8 lbs pulley and with water/meth injection its put down 381 rwhp ......
