Supercharger Test Drive

Is there anyone around the Greensboro / High Point NC area that has a 99-04 with a supercharger that would be willing to give test drives? I am debating on buying a supercharger but would like to get a first hand feel of what I am buying. I have a Bullitt and am leaning towards a KB 6lb kit but am willing to look at others.

Thanks!

LMAO! Yeah, I uhhhh, have been debating the supercharger as well, and I only want to drive yours to see if I should buy one myself. Any takers?? :D :rlaugh:

And here I sit thinking that all of the guys on stangnet are pretty cool. I post a serious and understandable request and get laughed at?? Guess there is always one jack@$$ in the bunch... For most people it's like test driving a car before you buy it. I am not going to spend money for a car I haven't test drove and I would rather not spend 4-5 grand on a supercharger without seeing first-hand the diffference with and without. It's not like I want to drag race the car, just get a feel of the difference.

if you have a bullit get a vortech , paxton or procharger because you have a good intake there and if you go with a KB you would have to get rid of that . not a good move in my opinion , I drove a roush stage 3 the other day and my 2002 GT with vortech non intercooled would kick its a*s in a straight line but the suspension is dead on on that roush through corners and the brakes are amazing

Test driving the 03/04 Cobra is a good option. I wonder if they would mind? LOL

I have also thought about keeping the intake and going with the mongoose kit and getting the whole thing done at T&J or doing it myself to save the intake. This is one of the reasons for wanting to drive one. I know that I would love to have boost in the lower rpm's and fairly instant like the KB, but how does is the boost at lower rpm's on the others? Is it pretty much like driving a stock car until you get to like 3000 rpm's and have the pedal floored?

Thanks for the replys!

Yes, so the driver can demand boost through gearing and throttle control.
With the KB it's more throttle control demand.

Good luck getting a ride, someone will be cool enough to hook you up. :nice:

OR, get the KB, and sell your bullit intake to offset the cost.

That was an option. To sell the bullitt intake. Thought I might keep it though so if I ever needed to put it back original, I could. I even have the original cat-back in storage (removed without cutting).

I dont know, but if i were to make an assumption from reading quite a bit on the kenne bell supercharger and their test results, etc. I would venture to say that the intake that you get with the kenne bell would be nearly as good if not better than your bullitt intake. You could try to find an airflow comparison somewhere but i really dont think that any difference between the two should be sufficient enough to curb your decision away from the kenne bell. I have done alot of reading on the kenne bell and they really did their homework on this thing. If you want a good supercharger with almost instant boost, IMHO this is the only way to go. It may cost you more off the bat but you get what you pay for. I also remember reading somewhere about Bullitt/kenne bell comparison. I believe it may have been "Muscle Mustangs and Fast fords" or "5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords" but i cant remember off hand. check out Kenne bells website tho, they have ALOT of great information including extensive test results from many different vehicles and using different bolt ons. www.kennebell.net
I hope this helps. Good luck! :nice:

I agree, but on the other hand when is the last time a dealer let you launch at 4k rpm or rev it right up to redline, that is the only way you will get the true feeling of what the cair is like. and at a dealer if u break it I think you have to buy it. when i test drive my car to buy, I was buying it used and treated it with the utmost respect, it never saw above 3k rpm. If u can find a sucker to let you drive his car, tell him I have a bridge to sell him :)

No offense man, but i think your dreaming to get a test drive from a stranger.

It's not like I want to take the stang for a pass at the strip. I just want to drive one so that I can see what kind of difference there is. I would never run someone elses car hard. Once I get a s/c, anyone in the area that is thinking of getting one and wants a test drive first, just let me know!

Hey, does anyone know of some dyno charts that show a KB power curve vs. a vortech/paxton power curve with the same peak numbers?

I know guys, seriously, if my GT was blown, I would let him test it, even let him stomp on it once. it's not like I don't do it!

Frazier, I am actually getting an 03 Cobra VERY SOON, wish you were closer, i would let ya take the cobra for a spin. like someone said earlier, just test drive an 03 or 04 cobra, good luck! :nice:

i would have to say if i had a s/c and a stranger asked to drive my car, i would say "heck no!" and run in the other direction. im very protective of my car, and thats how i would feel. what if somthing went wrong while you were test driving the car? would there be any evidence that it wasnt your fault? i cant blame you for asking tho, i too wouldnt mind driving someone else's blown stang, but you gotta realize that you arent gonna feel a big difference unless you take the car over 3k rpms, or really romp on it. so just taking it for a leisurley (sp) drive will net no real value. dont cent. s/c have to spool up anyways like a turbo? unless of course you drove a kb s/c car. now letting the owner drive the car and you sit in the passenger seat while he gets on it is another story. that i wouldnt mind doing. thats just my take on it, but if you can find someone to give you a free ride, more power to ya! :D

I am very proud of my car and I would be honered if another stanger was interested in taking it for a spin supercharged or not, I don't think this guy was out in left field at all. I thought it was a very harmless question

I would too.................i let a guy that i work with with drive my car yestuday because he anted to see how the 4:10 gear was in it because he wants to put them in his 99 GT.Well the grin on his face after driving the car lets me know that he WILL be getting the gears soon.I rode with him and i admit he "got on it" but no more then i would have.
