I have a 94 GT 5-spd w/373 gears, flowmaster 2 chambers, and a mac h-pipe. I want to add some power, what kind of supercharger and shorty headers would you run. How much boost is safe on a stock motor? What HP and performance can I expect to see with these items?

I'm not gonna tell you what kind of supercharger to get, it will just start a "this is better than that" war. I would go with a Procharger P-1SC, but that's just me. On a stock motor, only run between 6-9 lbs. of boost. Slap some BBK longtubes on there, and it should haul.

EDIT: Running 9 lbs. of boost, you should be looking at about 350+ horsepower. At least, that's what I've read. About 14 HP per pound of boost.

I am completely stock and I have an S-Trim w/ 12# pulley and I dyno @ 392/420 that was pushing only 4 degrees timing and ~9-10 #'s. Technically they say 14 #'s will blow your chit and I am not going that high w/ 160K on the block. I just replaced head gaskets from detination this past week so get a good tune. A blower should give you 100hp straight up with stock motor with a Vortech. I dyno 328/378 with the the 3.33 pulley (stock w/ Vortech). Before the blower I was at 225/280 with bolt-ons.

Paxton, Vortech, or Procharger. NOT POWERDYNE!

Im sure you can find a used Vortech with all the guys looking to upgrade to Turbo! I run 8-10lbs of boost. I would at least do a MAM (with better injectors), TB, and Intake upgrade with that, along with Elec fuel pump. With the above, your mods and stock heads, you should make it to 370+ to the wheels.

With you current mods, Vortech, and stock everything else, you could see 340-350.

Im running a Paxton Novi 2000. Ive had it on for about a month and so far a I love the damn thing and I havent even had it up to full boost yet. My clutch slips past 5-6 PSI or 4000 RPMs. Were putting in my Spec II clutch tomorrow and thus and were all going to the dyno on Saturday. Im hoping to pull between 330-350 w/ my current mods running 8-10 LBS of boost. Look for my thead on saturday night to see my dyno results.

PS: Im running #30 Injectors w/ the FMU.

damn thats a good refrence point for me. So let me get this stright. Before your Vortech you were putting down 225/280 N/A. W/ the Stock S Trim Pully you put down 328/378 and w/ the pully upgrade to a #12 pullly you put down 392/420? Im only asking b/c a bunch of us are going to the dyno in Concord N.H on saturday. Im just racking my brain at what I will put down. Before the paxton I was putting down 231/285. Im hoping to pull about 8 PSI on the stock pully and put down between 330-350. Only thing Im concerned about is that there is this "Recucer" that is located past the mass air meter and it cuts down on the amount of air the S/C gets. I dont know why Paxton put this in the kit but all it does is cut down on the amount of air the S/C gets and prob cuts down on boost. W/ the stock set up you have to use it or the Mass air meter wont hook up, once I get a power pipe or make my own out of PVC pipe then I can take it out. One guy said he went from 8 PSI to 12 by taking the reducer out.

That is correct and you should gain at a minimun 90 hp with your set-up IMO. I have a AFM pp and I have heard it is supposed to raise the boost 3 #'s from that alone but I never really look at the gauge when I am @ WOT. Good Luck this weekend on the dyno and let us know the results.

I had a AFM PP but it wont fit w/ a paxton b/c it sits back futher then the vortech and it wont clear the strut tower. Im looking at getting the UPR Power pipe. I'll be sure to post my #'s when I get back home sat night. The closer I get to 350 the more I'll be but I really just want to break 330 for now. If I can do that w/ out any type of power pipe w/ that reducer in there then I'll know I can unlock alot more HP and PSI once I get that out.

i know i'm not running stock heads like you guys but i am running a power pipe and i saw 10lbs with the stock pulley and with a 2.95 i'm seeing 15 now when the belt is tight thats all on a stock bottom end . on another note you might want to put some miles on that clutch before you go get dynoed they need at least 500 street miles before you get on the dyno a guy i know with a 03 cobra tried dynoing after a new clutch install and the gragh was all over the place cause the clutch wasn't seated properly .

I want a pro charger. I like that blow off valve or whatever you call it. Its soo kool!!! But yea besides that its a really good blower. I heard prochargers are the way to go if you have a stang.

GT motor and when I say stock I mean heads, cam and bottom. I have a Cobra intake on all 3 different dyno #'s.
I say you will capable of at least 375 or 400 depending on your boost and timing.

Procharger D1-b

I ran a Procharger D1-b for 2 years on a Stock motor. I hit 14-15p.s.i and it ran great. I had to retard the timing down to 3degrees. I never had good traction at the strip, however I hit a 13.000@111 with a best 2.01 60ft time. It had a bullet 73mm mass air meter, 24lb injectors 3.55gears and a bbk offroad pipe. Everything else drivetrain related was completely stock. After 2 years of running 14-15p.s.i the piston rings started to wear. I eventually had blowbye comming out my dipstick tube and breather from my valve covers. I ran 92octane pump gas all day everyday, except when it was freezing cold I used 87octane. Any questions let me know.

yeah the head units go right back to prochager once they start to leak I was going to go w/ a Procharger but while I was saving up my money for one I read a thread in the 4.6 section from some guy who just put a P1SC on his and 500 miles later the head unit was leaking. From what I hear procharger had fixed the problems of there leaky head units. Some people never had any probs and some people had constant problems. I think alot of it was due to people over filling the head units although they swear up and down they dident . But either way that one thread turned me off from PC b/c I wasnet going to throw down over 3K for a blower and spend all summer sending the head unit back so I went w/ Paxton and Im gald I did, what a nice unit and from what I hear the ( and have seen from mine so far ) the Novi 2000 is one hell of a blower. I'll find out just how good it is once I get it dynoed.
