I just installed my 3g alt and msd coil. My idle seems to be surging more than before. Not overly impressed with my 3g. With the lights on it cruises just above 12 volts. Thinking of doing a new ground to the actual block. (already have a 4g to the accesory mounts. The drop in voltage and the surge make me believe its the alternator not the coil. Any suggestions? I'll try to fab up a new ground tommorow.

For all the guys who helped with the 3g tech info...Thanks

That's not normal - the 3G should be nailing 14.4 ish volts without breaking a sweat. And with that issue could come the surging.

Good luck.

I did use the factory 94 pulley. I'm pretty sure that all my engine pulleys are factory. Who knows, maybee I'm under driving it. Maybee its the ground, maybee the alternator is a piece of S*#t. Came from ebay, but the buisness had like well over 1000 sales. They were all for starters, alts and other electrical items. I'm really just hoping that its not the dog gone alternator.

When I first did my 3G I was running the 1995 alternator pulley and my underdrives. At idle I was still seeing 14 volts on the DMM.

Did you check the codes in the computer? Maybe there is something else wrong?

Appreciate the help. I think I'll go ahead and get the check light set-up today. God knows It will probably save some time. Did get my 95 spindles, calipers and rotors today.

Cool stuff... I want to swap to 5 lugs one day.

After you read the instructions on dumping the codes like ten times, just get a paper clip and head out to the car. Once you figure out which pins to connect the whole process of KOEO, KOER & the clinder balance test takes less than 10 minutes. The best part about it is you only need a paper clip (or short wire) and it's totally free!

I love free stuff, but can I get a paperclip with a ford logo on it? I think I found my millon dollar ideal. I'll cut you in on half the profits. How bout it the Fuss n Harper "Ford Diagnostic Specialty (low resistance and chrome plated for asthetic appeal) Tool.

yeah, we better not persue that idea. They might force us to shut down the whole operation and then leave us with the bills.
