I have an 87 GT. I recently put trick flow upper and lower while doing that some vacuum lines broke and i thought i had everything hooked up right but i guess not. i also recently installed and adjustable fuel regulator. now this problem of stalling has been on and off for a little while now. even a little before i put the regulator on. its surges then stalls when i start it up. if i give it throttle though it will be ok and wont stall or surge again until its started up again. also when im driving down the road and apply the clutch, it will sometimes stall. i also did MAF conversion and that was quite some time ago. while looking around, i noticed that the smog pump hose (large one) was disconnected and plugged. dont know if that helps at all. Anyone ever have this problem...is really starting to piss me off. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Once you have your vacuum problems straightened out, if you are still having idle
problems, see the sticky "Help me create the Surging Idle Checklist" at the top of
the forum for help with your idle problems. The first post in the sticky has almost
all the details you need.

the confusion im having with the vacuum lines is three lines that are behind the strut tower the one line is black and two of them are white. i figured out that one of them goes to the egr cause the other two have vacuum that i can feel and i understand that egr should not have vacuum at idle. Dont know where the other two go. they were altered when i got the car. one needs to go to that canister that is part of the smog pump but there is still another line with no home. what does the TAD and the TAB look like? what does the EVR look like? Thanks!

Hey dude, do these pics help? This is a 93 and has 4 hoses, 2 black & 2 white. I broke 1 of the white ones when I swapped intakes and now just have rubber hoses.

On mine there is a port at each corner and one in the middle. The center hose goes to some little canister looking valve/solenoid thing in the hoses from the air pump. The other one going toward the front of the engine is going to another solenoid/valve thing that is attached directly to the back of the air pump. Of the 2 hoses going towards the back, the top one goes to the EGR thing and the bottom one goes to a nipple on the bottom side of the upper intake that is sticking out the backside.

Both of my 93's and my 91 are the same. I think my 88 was also like this. I don't remember it only having 3 hoses, and the engine is out so I can't go check.

The TAD and TAB solenoids are directly under the EGR Solenoid which is located on the back of the passenger side strut tower. I take it you still have the small factory vacum lines. So the the black line which is longer goes to the front Bypass valve for the smog system. One of the gray lines runs from the EGR (the top solenoid) throught the coupler then out to the EGR. The other gray should come from the other solenoid below the EGR valve for the TAD through the coulper and to the back smog valve.

Hope that helps
