Suspension + Brakes = road noise?

After digging through the forums I found the hub nut torque spec of 258 ft/lbs but I was just reading through the instructions to the FRPP M-2300-K kit and the spec for the front hub nut is 190 - 250 ft/lbs. My first impulse is to follow the recommendations on the M-2300-K instructions but you guys seem set with 258 ft/lbs.

So, which is it?

I'd go with the Ford instructions.

They've been printing those for 10+ years. If there were any issues i'm sure they would have made some changes.

Thanks Mike! That's where I was going and wanted some reassurance. My new hubs are expected to arrive tomorrow and I'm hoping to button this up tomorrow.

You don't happen to remember the bolt sizes you used to secure the dust guards to the spindles, do you?

I don't. Maybe 1/4"?? I used three bolts and those nuts with nylon inserts. Still tight.

So who do I have to know to buy the Hub Retaining Nuts? NO local place has them...at all. I tried VIP, Autozone, Advance, West Springfield Auto...nothing, nothing, nothing and nothing. My second choice NAPA had them in the local warehouse but when they showed up the next day they were the 87-93 brake hub nut in the 94-2000 hub nut package. My order from Rockauto had the same issue; correct package, wrong part. Ford wants $19 each (compared to $7.50 everywhere else) and they aren't in stock and have to be ordered from Michigan. This is the LAST part of this puzzle and right now my car is on jack stands waiting for the straw that broke the camel's back.

Talk about frustrating!!

IIRC, I got my hub retaining nuts from discbrakesrus.com, which is also where I got my banjo bolts, which are equally hard to find.

I just found the nuts and dust caps at Breeze Auto. Of course I'm going away on Saturday so this means an unattended car on blocks with no front wheels for a week.

I work in Billerica. Ride through wilmington all the time down rt129 whever i want to avoid I-95 traffic.
