I recently bought some Bilstein Hds that I will have installed in the next month. I was able to get lucky at the poker tables and have some more money to spend on some additional parts. I am interested in a "mild" drop and would like to know the best springs for the Bilsteins. No matter what, I am planning on spending the extra money and getting MM C/C plates. I've been reading that it might be a good idea to also get a bumpsteer kit as well that includes offset rack bushings? What exactly is bumpsteer? I am leaning towards Ford Racing B or C springs. What is your recommendations for springs keeping in mind I want a mild drop (I have the magnaflow x pipe installed and I have heard it can scrap pretty bad on a lowered car)? Is the bumpsteer kit necessary for a drop of less than 1.5 inches? Thanks.

The bumpsteer kit corrects the suspension geometry when the car is lowered. A simple way to say it, in a bump the suspension can change your direction of steer, especially if it's a hard enough bump. You'll have more tire wear and in spirited driving moments, it can cause the car's stability to become upset and possible loss of traction. if you're going with a 1 1/2 inch drop, I'd suggest getting the bumpsteer kit just for safety's sake. What ever spring you do go with, try to go with progressive springs, they'll give a better ride while giving the handling you want.

H&R sports would be a good choice.

For a "mild" drop (up to 1.5") you won't need any "bump steer" or "rack bushings", and probably won't need c/c plates either. Get it lowered and then see if it can be aligned to spec, if it can't, then worry about c/c plates. You can go to MM or Steeda's site and read all about it in their tech sections.

If you've seen any mid pipe that drags it's been installed wrong. Lt's may cause a drag with a lowered suspension but the mid pipe shouldn't.

When picking springs you want to keep in mind how the car is going to be used. If your just want to lose the 4x4 look on a daily driver then you need progressive rate springs like the Eibach Pro Kit. If you're going to autoX or oval track it then a stiffer linear rate spring would be the right choice.

I got the bilsteins from stangsuspension.com. When you checkout, if you use the code, "stangnet" you get 5% off. I paid $513.00 shipped to my door for 2 shocks / 2 struts. I appreciate the responses. This forum has helped me out a TON and I appreciate everyone that posts opinions. Thanks :SNSign:
