I'm clueless when it comes to suspension, so I'll need some help on this one. I know I need 4 springs to lower my car. I believe I'll need 2 caster camber plates aswell. But I'm confused with the shocks and struts. The 2 in the front are struts and the 2 in the back are shocks...right?

Sorry for the dumb question, I'm still learning!

DirtyJerz:

Not a dumb question at all. Everyone's got to start somewhere right? Yes the two in front are struts, the two rear, shocks. Depending on the type of springs you get, or more importantly the drop "from" the springs you get will determine if you need c/c plates. A drop of
1" to 1 1.25" should not need c/c plates, anything more WILL need them. Any other questions just use the search button on the top, mid screen. You may also want to invest in a Chilton's Manual to get to know your car a little better.

Welcome to the boards, and congrats on your first post.

Correct.

If you're just looking for a drop in ride height, you can just do the springs. If the stock shocks and struts are in good shape, they'll do fine for street use. If you want a stiffer ride and better cornering, the set of shocks, struts, springs, and sway bars from the Bullitt is available online.

If you don't drop the car more than around 1" or 1.25", you won't need the caster/camber plates either. My BBK springs lowered mine about 1" overall, and when I took it in for an alignment, they were able to get it back within the factory settings without c/c plates. If anything, you'll be left with just a touch of toe-out, which will improve handling (from understeer to more neutral) and will accellerate tire wear slightly.

No such thing as dumb questions, for example one of the first I asked a few years ago is "what is a catback?"

soapbox rant
I cannot stand it when people flame others for asking questions. What's trivial to some is quite technical in nature to others. Who's to judge, ya know?!

Everyone would enjoy life a lot better if they would be interested in helping instead of hurting others.
