Suspension Questions

Im plannen on doin some suspension upgrades with my income tax returns....i dont care about lowering the car.....i just want to hook...i know on thing i want to do is get some adjustable shocks to stiffen up the rear a bit...but im not sure about what else....and what would be the best bang for the buck:shrug:

lower and upper control arms with sperical bearings and 3 piece bushings. you can get boxed arms or weight jackers the benefit of weight jackers is adjustability.

also make sure you get subframe connectors that rienforce the torque box area (MM and steeda have these available). that or LG motor sports subframes which you can find at lmpperformance.com

and the reason for subframes is tht you need to rienforce the stress areas of the car. which namely is the unibody and the torque boxes. when welding in the torque box area make sure that the factory spot welds are holding and run a new bead around the area if need be.

I do not agree that there is any need to replace UCAs.

Also, spend some time looking around the Maximum Motorsports website, you will see what is out there and how incredibly expensive suspension upgrades can be.

subframes and lower rear control arms are a must. uppers are a debatable item. I would run them on a drag only car but not a steet driven car.

now you say you want to hook. do you care if the car still handles at all?

if you just want to hook you get drag shocks and springs. now if you want both handling and hook then you get a set of track tires. DR most likely on stock rear. slicks for a built rear.

I personally like a car that handles good so if I want to "hook" tires are going to be my main approach. now if you don't care about corners you can soften the supention up and get some wieght tranfer to help you out.

what do you mean? 'hook' usually states an off the line acceleration, and 'stiffen' up the rear means you want cornering ability..

what are do you want your suspension to perform like?

I dont care that much about cornering...i just care mostly about straight line....stiffening up the rear will also traction off the line....i expect to get over 1000 back so i have pretty much nothing else to do with it... guess i could put it towards the car loan...but what fun is that?

well stiffening isn't for draging, you want less stiff in the rear so you can get better weight distro

90/10 shocks/struts
some drag LCA's
drag springs w/ airbag
weld the axle tubes

should be good enough for you now
