Alright, all...my first technical question(s) on here with the '04.

First off, my car is my daily driver & I put over 60 miles on it each day. That being said, I don't want to lose too much of the ride comfort that it has. My last car could handle like nobody's business, but the ride got pretty old after the fun wore off, and I'm not planning on racing through the twisties any time soon.

What I'm looking for is an inexpensive way to drop the car about 1" to 1 1/2" all around for a more aggressive look but still retain a decent ride. I know next to nothing about suspension, so use Barney words with me so that I understand. If you have recommendations, please tell me everything I'd need to get, maybe some install location options, and how much it might run me to get it done.

Thanks in advance!

Just dropped mine with Eibach Sportlines. I think I paid $230.00 or something from Laural Mountain Mustang (free shipping). That isnt bad and if you eat in the chow hall for a paycheck you'll be ok hahaha..
The ride is fine and looks alot better than the 4X4 stock look.

My 03 is a DD and I do a daily 65 mile RT. I chose the Eibach Pro-Kit for that very reason. I wanted stock like ride quality and added handling. I got exactly what I wanted with the Pro-Kit. Mine dropped just under 1-1/2 in front and about 1-1/4 in the back. With a good set of standard tools, jack and some jack stands, you can do the springs yourself.

So did you guys have to change your shocks with either of the Eibach kits? If not, does it decrease shock life expectancy? Also, what about an alignment? Required, or not?

I have the Eibach pro kit(1.5" drop). I love it! Rides better than stock. Looks great too.

A lot of people have eibach, no doubt they are good, but i have heard that the back springs tend to sag. Also they are expensive, i chose to go with a Tokico spring and shock combo. The spring are progressive rate, in other words, when the springs start to compress, they feel just as soft as stock, but when a load is put on them, such as cornering, they stiffen up. As for ride, i have the tokico shocks too and the ride is MUCH better than stock, that suspension hop that a lot of mustangs have is gone.
You can use the same shocks with shorter springs, but i have heard that it will decrease their life, and i assume that the ride will suffer some too. You can pick up cheap performance shocks tho. Tokico makes very affordable shocks and so does eddlebrock and many other companies. Just do your homework and see what best fits your budget. for a set of tockico shocks and springs like mine expect to spend about $400. I had mine installed for $600.
