I have a few ?'s
1. When doing rear shocks do I need to remove the spring. Also when replacing the spring do i need to remove the shock

2. Looking for some quad shock part #'s but none of the local auto stores know what I am talking about.

I am looking for stock replacement parts this car is my beater 88 5.0 convertable auto

not to offend you in any way but if your asking these kinds of questions, you should really have someone do it for you.removing the springs is not something you want to attemp when your not sure of what your doing.and if u do attemp it replace the springs and shocks at the same time.

You will have to remove the shocks when installing new springs. You do not have to remove the springs when just installing new shocks. Be careful, those springs are powerful. Not as bad as the front, but bad enough.

You can change the shocks without removing or touching the springs. Make sure you jack the car up by the rear axle for this.

You have to drop the lower bolt from the rear shocks to get the springs out.
On the rear, you also have to remove the sway bar to get the control arms to drop low enough to get the springs out. This takes two jacks or some blocks under the body, and blocks under the axle on the side you are working on, and a jack under the rear control arm. With the shock and sway bar off, block the axle up, and put a jack under the rear of the contol arm and carefully remove the lower control arm rear bolt. Slowly lower the control arm and the spring will extend and you can remove it.

Not hard, but does take some planning and time.
