Hi, I was wondering what opinions people here have of suspension. It is almost spring and I need to order something up pretty soon. I need : subframe connectors, suspension, and tires. This car is an 88 Mustang GT, and it is used primarily as a weekend car, and sees a few autocrosses over the summer. The car already has Eibach springs, which lowers the car a bit I am told. I am hoping that since there are newer springs on the car, I can get around having to spend the money on coil over suspension. However, I need something a little nicer than KYB and such. So, what are your opinions on a good suspension kit, priced reasonably? I am looking at getting tires too, so input on that would be appreciatied too. I currently have Sumitomo something or other, size 235/50 ZR18. I think going to a 245 would be fine and not rub or anything on 18 inch rims. They have to be streetable, but I do not put many miles on the car, and it is almost never driven in rain, and certainly not in snow, so they can be pretty soft. Thanks for any input.

Hey, I don't want to get away from your original question, but how did you fit 18" rims on an 88 GT? I have an 87 and I'm worried about putting 17X9 rims on the car. From what everybody is saying, they will rub in the front because of the small wheel opening in the front fenders. What did you do? Some pics would be ccol if you have some.

Forgive me, but I do not really use forums very often, so I am unfamiliar with how to post a picture of the car. I have it in a picture right underneath my name, but that is small and you can hardly see the wheels. I will post a picture if someone will let me know how. As to the rubbing issue, I never experience wheel rub with my 18's, even on the autocross track, and even with the car lowered, so I would say you are perfectly safe with 17 inch rims. I believe the 93 Cobra came stock with 17s if I remember correctly. I am not sure how wide you can go, however. That is something I have to find out if I wish to go with a slightly wider tire (I have 235 right now, but there are many makes of tire available that are 245).

All you need to do to post a picture is reply to my message, and then at the bottom of the page, you will see :Attach Files

Anyway, as far as 93 Mustangs go, they had a wider wheel well opening than our 87's or 88's did. In 91, Ford widend the opening which ended up giving more clearance for 16 (and 17) inch rims.
