svo 5 speed in a 5.0

so it can be done then? i'll post when i get it and get ready for the swap

SVO trans - tag id 13-52-116. It is basic 4 cylinder trans with some different gear ratios. It has a small input shaft and a 250 ft/lb torque rating
1'st = 3.50
2'nd = 2.14
3'rd = 1.39
4'th = 1.00
5'th = .78

As you can see, the gear ratio spreads are greater than a 5.0 trans. That means more RPM drop between gears. The engine has to work harder to get back up to the RPM range where it pulls strong.

Save your money for a real 5.0 T5 or a Tremec 3550/TKO.

i just thought if i could get it for 150 i'd be ok, everytime i see a 5.0 5 speed it's

A. like 600 bucks for the tranny alone

B. all tore up

Personally, I'd suck it up and spring for a rebuilt T-5 from a company like D&D Performance if I were you. For $999, you'll get the hardened 3.35 Super Alloy gear set, carbon fiber blockers, steel bearing retainer on top of a transmission you'll know to be top notch and handle the torque. Not to mention you get a warranty.

Nickel and dimeing your way through a few items is fine, but generally a good working transmission isn't that type of item. You get what you pay for.
