ok guys, as much as i love my 5.0 gas illiage sucks to the limit as im going through 2 tanks of gas a week averaging about 180 mils to tank

i love the fox bodies but i dont want something slow. ive been thinking and dont tell me that i would regret doing this because i know i would. but ive been thinking about selling he 5.0 this summer after its painted and finding a nice SVO.

i love the 5.0 but matted to a auto gas mileage sucks the first tank i got 270+ out of it but my foot is in it more....unless im able to swap this thing to a 5 speed as to get better gas mileage im not sure if i can afford to drive it

so that or i find 4 cyl thats good on gas an keep the 5.0 but being 16 the added cost of another car plus insurance would run me dry.

the only huge problem with getting a SVO is there so damn gard to find..

ive been getting into auto x more and more lately and i think i could do well with a SVO.set up right.

idk...i got a problem, i think to much

this picture dont help me either..looks so dang good!

if i was to get a SVO i would want to do something like this.

SVO's are for the hobbyists. they are getting up there in age and parts for them are getting harder to find and cost an arm and a leg. From what I have seen they also for the most part make poor daily drivers and require constant attention.
besides I highly doubt you will keep your foot out of it and lets be realistic. they come with like 35lb injectors, you drive like a pissed off teenager. how much gas do you honestly expect to save? learn to do the speed limit or hitch a ride from a friend every now and then.

"EASY solution here, drive smarter???"

:stupid:
And where are you driving that thing 360 miles a week. Its not like you have a job, and even if you have a license(do you yet?) you pretty much go from school to friends to home. I drive to work, school and my GFs house who lives like 10 miles away every day and I only go through about a tank a week which is like 200 miles with a few WOT runs.

my 87 aod with 3.27's got 20 mpg city/hiway avg if you drove it like a tempo. i would think you could get 220 miles out of a tank of gas with a good tune an drivin like a granny. i hear the svo's are very tempermental cars. if i were you an wanted milage i'd try swappin in some 3.27's or 3.31's.

if you want great mileage buy a honda, realistically you would have planned for a huge gas bill when you bought this car. be thankful for what you got and stop posting about how you want to sell it every few days. it gets old. peace out.

it has 2.73's. im pretty sure i have a vacuum leak because durning idle it sccatters up and down and when put in R it dies most the time. im not sure if a vacum leak would cause this bad of millage or what but i have been unable to find the leak.

i did...but i drive more then i thought i would be :nice:

i dont want to sell it...it a matter of if i can afford it....it would be nice to buy a fiesta and DD that sucker and keep the fox for sunny days. :D

i hoping i will be able to swap it to a 5 speed and maybe that will get me some better milliage...it dont shift out of first untill around 2k even barley giving it gas, OD slips, it makes weird noises, it whines ( i think its normal though from the fre outher aod 5.0 owners ive talked too) maybe ill have a 5 speed sooner then i thought

honestly ryan...i think your a kid. what i mean by that is that you'll never be happy man, you can talk like you've been around the block once or twice but the fact of that matter is that you haven't. now im not trying to discourage you by any means, and i dont mean to talk down to you either, but quit thinking of **** like that man, your cars not even done and your already thinking about flipping it? cmon dude, chances are if you can't keep this your not gonna keep the svo, then youll hate the next car...you see where this is going, stick with a car, keep it a few years, i know that doesn't mean much coming from ME in particular, but it'll take you a couple cars to finally figure out the pattern.

i understand where your coming from...but do you ever feel like a car just has it out for you?...after it painted hoefully i will look at it another way.

i think i got better mileage after dumping the 2.73's for 3.27's cuz the engine didn't have to work so hard to get it rolling in town. you might be able to hook up a vac gauge on it. speed density cars rely on vac to manage the motor so check them out. a good visual inspection for cracks an listen for leaks an see what you find.

Any time you pick up a car in the condition yours was in, it's going to require a lot of work and maintenance just to get it to run like a nice, low mile, well maintained stocker should.

Getting rid of your current car for another $2,000-$3,000 'project' isn't going to get you anywhere. Cars really become money-pits when you put a lot of time/work/parts into them, just to immediately flip it and begin sinking money into something else. Either save up, and buy a nicer car, or continue to whip this one into shape. Don't trade one money pit for another.

If cost of gas is affecting your life, you need to start making some more money.
