my friend found an 84 svo from what he described to me. im supposed to go look at it sometime this week. from what he has told me the main thing wrong with it is that the harness is shot so i thought maybe someone on here would know were i could get a new one? the guy wants 500 for the car but i think thats kinda high since i cant see it run or test drive it. also there is no dash and thats were the wiring problems are. my friend is looking at this as a project car but i personally think this is out of his ability to fix. im not sure but if it looks to be alot of trouble to get the car back up and running i might see if i can get the guy down on the price and take the motor and go though it and put in my 88.

Personally, if the body's clean, leave it alone. Fix the wiring, keep it complete, and enjoy the individuality of owning a car that's fairly uncommon. If you've got a daily driver, keep it as a project. If the car is no or low rust, there's no reason to go parting it out. There's simply not enough of them left to barf out a solid car, even if it does need a little work. And for 500 bucks, you can't beat it.

I agree with j and v,

There are not a lot of these early 80s mustangs left so we have to preserve/restore them to keep them around. Already, you see so few of these around. If it has a good body, along with trim and everything, might as well finish it off as j and v said and enjoy it.

If you are interested in looking into the wiring problem, you can probably find a wiring diagram to try to trace the wiring problem. If you are to look for one of these, they are called wiring shop manual. I found one of these on ebay for my 80 mustang.

yea i would not part out a good svo i just meant more if it was trashed and eat up with rust or just not worth fixing. i did get a chance to go look at it today the body is pretty good only thing i really saw wrong was that the hood flew up and one of the back quarter panels had some work that had been repaired. the dash had been taken out and there were wires all over the place. i did not get to see the engine harness he had removed it. he said it had fallen on the turbo and burned up. but things just seemed strange i think there was some stuff he was not telling us. but my friend decided to not get it after meeting the owner and talking to him. i think i will keep an eye on it and let it set for awhile and i might be able to get it cheaper.
