I was driving home today and saw what can only be explained as an SVT taurus. At least that is what it looked like. It had a huge wing ground effcts duel exhuast and an SVT emblem. Is this a real car or did another jacka$$ slap SVT stickers on a taurus. It may of been a contor also. Don't know the ground effect threw me off.

Long story short did ford make any SVT other than Cobra and lighting and focus.

There is such a thing as an SVT contour...not sure what years or any specifics but it exists...as far as it being a taurus, it would indeed be another jacka$$ who slapped on SVT emblems

Im not sure if it was done by SVT or if it had SVT badges, but Ford did make the Taurus SHO from 89-97 I think. My cousin ran a 10.2 1/8 mile in his '90 SHO with around 160K on it, bone stock.

They made a SHO taurus. That might have been what you saw. They can be very fast cars as well. Did it say SHO on the rear bumper.

Oh yeah, they do have dual exhaust, but I think it goes into turndowns at the rear bumper from the factory. They did have ground effects and the later models had wings, but they were no-where near huge.

i just sold my '98 contour svt....they were built from '98 to '00...they have a duratec v6 making 200 hp...5 speed manual...and look like the above silver car..
probably the best handling car i've ever driven...not much of a low end pull, but from 5k to 7k pulls very hard, and top speed is 143 mph...
it was a very cool car to own,but i got bitten by the mustang bug again and just bought a '95 gt.

my wife had a 1998 taurus SHO, let me tell you, nice car. it had a 3.4 liter v8, built by yamaha(spelling?) and it had plenty of power, i think like 230 horse 235 tourqe? but it sounded like a friggin ferrari when whailing it. it just did, i guess because of the small size and 8 cylinders, but it did. she dives on the highway for work, so she need a car with some power, it was driven at speeds of 70 or higher daily, and it was great. plus the ride feel was excellent. but you probobly saw one of those with an SVT badge.
