Hey, wondering what all is needed to swap the dohc 4.6 out of a 98 cobra into a 95 gt. I was told that the k-member, tranny crossmember, brake system, and power steering were all different. wondering if it would be worth it?

The brake booster is hydraulic instead of vacuum-based. don't know if you can rig up enough vacuum off of the 98 engine to let it work right. You'd need the brake booster and possibly the master cylinder. The rest should be the same.

deff gonna need the booster as the engine will not fit with our booster. then you will need the p/s pump, hoses, and possible steering rack. alternative here would be a manual brake conversion.

all the aforementioned items would be required as well as wiring harness.

if your plans are to run big horsepower with a turbo/blower then i would do it. if you are doing it with no plans on maxing out the stock 5.0 then it would be too much work.

I was just looking to do it b/c I have both and figured it would be cool. Would I be smarter to find a newer v-6 as a starting base?

Do not the 96-98 Cobras have a VERY strong block? Something like "teskid" comes to mind.

Yeah ... I'd find a V6 roller somewhere for like $800 and slap that puppy in there instead.

Not to mention your insurance will be cheaper! Then you'll also need a new rear end.
