Swapping to GT-40 Style intake from stock

Can I still the stock strut support bar?? Or is there another one that will work? My mustang already has a cobra hood. Anything else I should know when installing these?

You can't use stock stb. Need an after market one.

I was also looking at those elbows that you have to use on these 94-95 stangs.

The intake I got was off a 2000 Explorer. It came with the elbow and egr valve. It is possible to convert this over to work?? Or do I need to purchase an aftermarket elbow?

you'll need to use an aftermarket elbow for 94-95s, unless you switch to a fox style tb setup, then it can be used elbow-less

I know you said you have a cobra hood, but just wondering if anyone knows whether or not this intake clears the stock sn95 hood?

I have a GT40 tubular and it fits under the stock hood no problem

The explorer intake and the tubular GT40 both fit under the stock hood. I had to dremel one of the braces to make room for one of the bolts but that was about it.

Don't forget that you will need to re-configure a lot of your vacuum lines with the new intake and plug some holes. Also, if you plan to keep your EGR valve, expect to have deal with the bung and pipe not fitting together quite right.

The GT-40 was a lot of work for no noticeable power gain on the stock heads.

I appreciate that information. I seen this intake at a salvage yard for 160.00 I could not pass it up. I prob will not install it until I do more with the engine. The car just turned 150k but the engine appears to have installed later. I will prob wait another year or so then have a 306 or 347 installed. I was considering pulling the heads and rebuilding them, prob have them ported out a little for better flow since these have horrible flow ratings.
I love the possibilities with these cars.....so many things to do with them....too bad most of them require $$$$$

Anyone here live in Washington state.....the east side??

one more thing......I have not compared manifolds yet...but I do have the gt40 elbow with the egr valve mounted already. I have purchased an egr simulator off ebay that appears to work well. Is it possible to use this elbow with just capping off the pipe coming from the head to egr valve?

I seen a couple of aftermarket elbows going from 50-70.00 are they worth that?? or should I try and just fabricate something?
