ive seen some company's remove the swirl damn, and them some just grind it down a little, and some dont touch it at all, what the pro's and con's of removing it, or leaving it in there, ive searched it, some say it's better to leave it, some say to take it out i know that it lowers compression a little when removed too, but should i leave it alone or what?

Spent it on another kinda job

Whats a swirl DAM? Is that the piece of metal in the combustion chamber to promote better air flow? Cause I would not remove it, mabey smoothen it but not remove. Unless you need to drop the compression for boost

it supposed to reduce emissions and swirl the A/f mixture, but all the aftermarket heads like patriot remove them cause they say it blocks air flow

I wouldn't touch the swirl dams at all.

That lump of extra material in the PI combustion chamber is more of a ANTI-SWIRL dam. If you put a stock PI head on a flow bench, it has very little swirl. That lump is suppose to make the incoming A/F charge fold or tumble off the top of the piston, by directing the charge straight down. Unless you have a flow bench, and your just cleaning up the head a little, do not remove the lump, or you'll lose a lot of torque. Just round the edges a little, like the fox lake heads.

Tumble > swirl for AF mixture and combustion efficiency.

Combustion efficiency is numero uno when trying to improve the overall efficiency of an engine.

Are those on PI heads or NPI heads? I know that people remove the swirl dams on PI swaped cars to lower the compression but If those are NPI heads (Your sig) what’s the bennifit?

better heat transfer, less hot spots to cause detonation.

But tumble promotes a better A/F mixture and turbulence during compression/ignition, allowing for a faster flame front, thus reducing knock.

Yeah but each piston should be the same hope they all are! Looks very nice I took off a little less just no sharp edges.

Leave them in! They promote tumbling of the mixture and better combustion. Ford put them there for a reason. Aftermarket head porters remove them to unshroud the intake valve and get big flow numbers. If you remove them you will have to add more timing in your tune.
